Residential Counselor

Schedule: M-F 8am-4pm

Pay Range $20.59 - $21.21 per hour

Position Summary

This Residential Counselor will work in our Shelter Staff program and will be responsible for working closely with clients in a congregate emergency residential shelter site, to provide life skills support to individuals who are staying at the shelter. This position also provides oversight of site operations, which include enforcing safety measures, program rules, and expectations using a trauma-informed and client-centered approach. Other responsibilities include: assisting with screening, intake activities and orientation of new clients into the shelter program; providing guidance and information to clients regarding the daily activity schedule, house rules and policies; overseeing security and safety; completing housekeeping duties; ensuring daily chores are completed; providing emergency crisis management to individuals.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities



  • Ensure the safety of guests and the site
  • Enforce rules and regulations to ensure smooth operation of the site
  • Respond effectively to emergency situations, document appropriately, and communicate according to established guidelines
  • Complete the intake process for new guests
  • Provide support and structure, addressing guest/resident problems or concerns
  • Initiate crisis intervention when necessary
  • Record documentation as required by program guidelines
  • Uphold the values of CTI - Equity, Integrity, Compassion

Qualifications



  • High School Diploma or equivalent education
  • Excellent customer service, organizational, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent crisis management skills
  • Proficient computer skills in basic computer software and data collection
  • Good attention to detail


Preferred Qualifications



  • 1 year previous experience working with individuals in need of social services (preferably low income individuals)
  • Bilingual skills
