POSITION SCOPE

The Surveyor would be required to set up GPS control as needed, help layout and set grades for drillers, log all blast holes per GPS, quantify shots by creating existing/design surfaces, generate quantity reports using Agtek, generate csv files as needed, and help with blast crews as needed. Travel is required. Qualified candidates would travel with the blast crew to our various locations which include Arizona, Nevada, New Mexico, Texas, and California.

This position will work under the Arizona Drilling & Blasting Division of Fisher Sand & Gravel Company. The position is located in Phoenix, AZ and surrounding areas.

PRIMARY DUTIES



  • Survey and provide current and accurate maps of mine operations
  • Blast design layout
  • Ability to adapt to scope of any given project
  • Communicate and correct deviations from the mine plan (over digging, leaving walls fat, too high benches, etc.)
  • Anticipate potential survey problems and avoid them or respond in a timely manner with a solution.
  • Responsible and accountable for the performance, and compliance of mine site safety and environmental policies and procedures for all personnel and vendors
  • Provide safety and environmental leadership by always setting a good example



REQUIREMENTS



  • Willingness to learn on a job to job basis
  • Ability to work independently
  • Related field experience in surveying (preferred)
  • Knowledge of the regulatory requirements for mining
  • Demonstrated personal commitment to safe work practices
  • Strong computer skills
  • Knowledge and understanding of using TopCon (preferred)
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to work to tight deadlines
  • Travel is required



PHYSICAL DEMANDS



  • Must be able to physically perform the basic life operational functions of climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motion
  • Able to wear and demonstrate to employees the use of personal protective equipment including hardhat, steel-toed footwear, safety glasses, ear plugs, gloves (rubber, leather & cloth), and/or any other equipment required to do the job assigned safely
  • Ability to climb & traverse muck piles, lift up to 50 lbs., work in adverse seasonal weather conditions, and carry survey equipment
  • Able to read and interpret various safety warning signs and product MSDS, tags, and labels
  • Ability to distinguish various colors as they relate to safety warning signs, tags, and labels
  • Able to operate a telephone and mine phone/radio with sufficient voice and hearing to carry on a conversation for the purpose of communicating Warehouse information, issuing directives, and providing feedback, to management and subordinates
  • Ability to hear sufficiently to distinguish various pitches of warning alarms
