Purpose

Reporting to the Senior Information Technology Manager, Advancement Data Operations (ADO), the Senior Application Analyst will join ADO's growing Application Development team to help drive the design and configuration of Texas Development's new Salesforce-based CRM. This role will serve as an ADO resource handling configuration and customization tasks common with the Salesforce platform.

The Senior Application Analyst will serve a key role in the University Development Office's ongoing Affinquest Advancement RM (Salesforce) implementation and will be an important support role in the future state tasked with providing business analysis, technical design assistance, and system configuration supporting the efforts of the Advancement Data Operations Salesforce team.

Responsibilities
  • Manage small to medium-scale projects assuming full technical responsibility and leadership. Review, prioritize, and contribute to the resolution of outstanding configuration decisions as identified by project leads.

  • Analyze and interpret user requirements, user stories, use cases, and system architecture documentation. Perform complex systems analysis, report development, and configuration tasks.

  • Assist with technical design and data modeling by eliciting user requirements, documenting user stories, and communicating with both internal and external subject matter experts and data stewards.

  • Support ongoing design, configuration, and testing activities including performing routine Salesforce business analyst and administrative functions such as modification of page layouts and list views, generation of reports and dashboards, creation of new objects and fields, and other standard Salesforce analyst, administrative, and support tasks.

  • In partnership with the Salesforce Administrator and Architect, manage and enhance the security model, including requests for new and modified permission sets, permission set groups, public groups, and sharing rules while maintaining alignment with the overall organizational security policies and best practices.

  • Identify opportunities to create and enhance business process automations by designing and developing flows, approval processes, and other notifications. Solve business problems by soliciting requirements, interpreting client requests, and proposing solutions that are appropriate in the broader context of departmental/university procedures, goals, and automated systems technology.

  • Participate in design and testing activities for the purpose of business unit acceptance and package deployment. Establish testing procedures for solutions and reports to support business analysis and statutory reporting requirements.

  • Develop and maintain detailed documentation of business processes, workflows, configurations, and procedures essential to the continued support and maintenance of all components of the Salesforce solution, for both platform users and internal technical audiences.

  • Advocate for strong data quality standards through the comprehensive review and validation of data being imported/exported from the system. Perform data analysis needed to support technical and business needs.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
  • Salesforce Administrator or Salesforce Business Analyst certification.

  • Three or more years of professional experience as a Salesforce Administrator, Business Analyst, or serving in a Salesforce administration capacity.

  • Can collaborate with individuals with varying skills and from different parts and levels within a complex organization.

  • Able to manage expectations, prioritize work, and partner with functional and technical stakeholders to achieve project goals and business needs.

  • Strong understanding of environment management, release management, code versioning best practices, and deployment methodologies.

  • Ability to triage, synthesize, and clarify requirements for technical staff.

  • Able to organize complex tasks into manageable and measurable work.

  • Can communicate complex technical solutions to non-technical team members.

  • Excellent written, verbal, and visual communication skills and a demonstrated understanding of appropriate levels of communication.

  • Self-directed and dedicated to working as a member of a collaborative team with excellent problem-solving skills.

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Five or more years of Salesforce administration or business analysis experience.

  • Demonstrated understanding of the core Salesforce platform (Sales Cloud, Service Cloud) with functional knowledge of one or more additional products, such as Experience Cloud, Data 360, or Agentforce.

  • Experience integrating Salesforce with third party solutions or supporting highly integrated Salesforce solutions, including AppExchange apps and external APIs.

  • Familiarity with fundraising and development terminology and related business processes.

  • Bachelor's degree or higher.

Salary Range

$87,000+ depending on qualifications

Working Conditions
  • Works in standard office conditions, in a shared office environment, with repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation

  • Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM on-site work is the standard expectation for this position

  • May require additional hours during peak periods and special events.

  • Regular and consistent attendance is required in this job.

  • Must be eligible to work in the United States on a full-time basis for any employer without sponsorship.

  • This position is based in Austin, Texas.
