Manage the operational, financial, and personnel activities of University Physicians (UP) Patient Accounts Department.

- Achieve established performance targets by actively engaging multiple disciplines/departments/staff; confer with physicians and other department managers to resolve operational problems; act as liaison between the UP Patient Accounts and physicians, hospital counterparts, the public and private third-party reimbursement agencies; appropriately manage people, relationships/processes in order to maximize results as well as engage internal and external stakeholders; promotes collaboration, teamwork and champions service excellence.
- Coordinate financial reporting activities with other financial departments such as General Accounting, Compliance and Hospital; maintain current knowledge of third-party payors regulations and initiate corrective actions for UP to be in compliance for participation in Federal and State programs.
- Develop strategies for long range access planning/management addressing changes in reimbursement and clinical environments in collaboration with internal and external organizations.
- Direct activities, track and identify trends related to department functions which include billing, credit and collections, cashiers, cash control, data entry, data control, and insurance; representation of UP in court actions as it relates to collecting patient accounts; maximize cash collections and timely receipts for all patient services rendered; resolution of extremely complex and exceptional patient accounting problems; ensure billing and collection policies and procedures consistent with Federal and State laws.
- Direct and monitor departmental operations and objectives to ensure the most cost-effective services are being provided; identify areas for improvement and oversee quality improvement initiatives; develop and implement departmental policies and procedures consistent with UP policy and procedures.
- Interview, select, train, counsel, and evaluate staff in the UP-Patient Accounts Department; monitor trends to ensure sufficient staffing to provide appropriate levels of service to patients; ensure compliance with policies, procedures and rules/regulations (organizational, State and Federal).
- Prepare annual budget and monitor revenue/expenditures during the year; achieve departmental and organizational goals; ensure optimal outcomes for department; develop and monitor workload standards/staff productivity.

Monday - Friday
8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Public Policy, or Computer Science with a concentration in accounting or related studies, or an equivalent degree with strong accounting and computer science components is necessary.
Four years of management experience in patient accounts or an equivalent position with a hospital or other health care delivery organization is necessary.

Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary Range: $100,000 - $150,000 annually
Grade: PAT - 013
