Department Information
The Woodruff School graduates high caliber mechanical engineers for a demanding profession. Mechanical engineers are the foundation of todays technological world. To do so, we provide enhanced facilities and laboratories to create the best learning environment and we attract outstanding faculty and students. In this period of rapid technological change, the Woodruff School produces mechanical engineers who are vital to our future.

With approximately 3,000 students, 100 faculty members, and 80 staff members, the Woodruff School is one of the largest mechanical engineering programs in the country. We are consistently ranked as one of the top 10 mechanical engineering programs in the U.S. at both the graduate and undergraduate levels and continuously innovate to keep our school at the forefront of engineering education. Our size and resources allow us to offer a diversity of educational and research opportunities that enable us to produce highly sought after engineering professionals.

Job Summary

The Grants Associate will review standard and routine Institute-wide sponsored research grant proposals & provide essential administrative oversight for resulting awards.

Responsibilities

Job Duty 1 -
Support or oversee the administration of grants, contracts, and subcontracts and perform high-level research and provide reports and detailed analysis for administrative use.

Job Duty 2 -
Research and identify potential funding sources through various means and guide faculty and staff toward funding opportunities that match their needs.

Job Duty 3 -
Prepare and negotiate grant awards, contracts, and subcontracts in conjunction with faculty and/or researchers; collaborate with staff and key stakeholders to resolve issues related to sponsored grants and contracts.

Job Duty 4 -
Participate in prioritizing internal grants based on merit, grant application planning processes, review funding opportunity announcements, application instructions, grants submission documents, grant funding availabilities, budgets and allowable costs and/or other criteria.

Job Duty 5 -
Serve as primary liaison between external agencies and responsible units to ensure all information is correct and in compliance with university/agency, federal, state, and sponsor regulations governing grants and contracts; respond to audit requests that pertain to the grant.

Job Duty 6 -
Monitor, maintain, and/or approve the grant project's financial status and program performance; forecast cash requirements, cash flow, and spending rates; and monitor, prepare, and/or direct the preparation of the fiscal reports.

Job Duty 7 -
Ensure all contractual requirements have been met; review, edit, and approve fiscal portions for the awards; complete the closeout requirements, including a review of the final financial and technical reports.

Job Duty 8 -
Interpret and provide guidance regarding sponsor policies and regulations.

Job Duty 9 -
Contribute to the development, implementation, and analysis of policies, procedures, programs, objectives, and long-range planning related to research and sponsored programs.

Job Duty 10 -
Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
High school diploma, GED, or vocational training.

Required Experience
1+ years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Additional Preferred Qualifications
Some experience using FastLane and grantsgov is preferred

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

SKILLS
Familiarity with grant proposal processes.

Salary range: $65,000.00 - $75,000.00
