Position Description:

The School of Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of Iowa seeks to hire a visiting faculty member with proven professional experience in strategic communication, such as advertising, public relations, or digital marketing. This position is a one-year, renewable appointment with full benefits starting August 19, 2026. This position involves teaching 4 courses per semester within the School's undergraduate strategic communication curriculum, with an emphasis on working with students in the Adler Agency and other client-based classes.

We are seeking applicants with substantial professional experience in strategic communication. Potential areas of specialization include, but are not limited to, content marketing, social media marketing, data analytics or evaluation, campaign development and implementation, influencer and creator marketing, brand strategy, or experiential marketing. Preferred applicants will also have teaching or mentoring experience.

Education Requirement:


  • BA in strategic communication/journalism/mass communication or related discipline.


Required Qualifications:


  • Substantial professional experience in strategic communication.


Desirable Qualifications:


  • Teaching or mentoring experience.
  • Professional experience in a strategic communication agency setting, with expertise in an area noted above.
