About the College/Unit/Department
Part of the Division of Student Affairs, University Housing consists of nearly 2.8 million square feet of facilities and is home to more than 9,000 students. The department employs 220 full-time staff members, 21 graduate assistants and 565 undergraduate student workers. As a self-supporting auxiliary, University Housing operates a $59 million budget derived only from student housing fees and other non-state sources.
In support of its mission to provide comfortable, affordable and secure housing options where the academic success and personal growth of residents are encouraged and supported, University Housing engages staff members in competency-based training and students in curriculum-based engagement focused on community building, interpersonal skills, social awareness and responsibility, and well-being.

Additional Schedule Information

  • Respond to all on-call requests for conference services between 5:00pm and 9:00am when on call, and 24 hours on weekends and holidays.
  • Work up to a 40-hour week if not taking summer classes, with varied schedules including mornings, afternoons, evenings, overnights, and weekends as determined by conference services supervisor(s); or work up to a 20-hour week if enrolled in classes, with similar scheduling arrangements.

Duties/Responsibilities


Duties/Responsibilities
The responsibilities listed below do not comprise an exhaustive list but indicate a range of duties typical for the CA position. Other duties may be assigned to CAs by their supervisor as necessary on a temporary and infrequent basis.

  • Act as comprehensive support for participants, guests, and group sponsors throughout summer conferences.
  • Serve in an on-call duty rotation to manage any issues related to maintenance/facilities concerns, check-ins/outs, building keys, access cards, and inventory management of linens and other summer conferences resources.
  • Conduct thorough room and building inspections before the arrival of each group and after their departure from housing, ensuring detailed assessments and accurately reporting any issues identified.
  • Collaborate in the preparation of check-in materials for assigned conference and orientation groups, including the assembly of key packets and access cards.
  • Configure common spaces and lobbies to facilitate seamless check-ins, checkouts, and additional reservations.
  • Facilitate prompt and efficient check-ins and checkouts for conference services, ensuring a seamless experience for all attendees as required.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in StarRez, housing software system, and various Microsoft Office applications including but not limited to Teams, OneNote and Excel after training.
  • Facilitate communication of any issues related to participant stays by working with various stakeholders, such as community RBSWs, Maintenance, and Housing Assignments, and Residential Programs and Services to ensure a successful guest experience.
  • Work community desk shifts within conference residence halls to support weekly departmental operations.
  • Effectively multitask and prioritize responsibilities to meet deadlines, work collaboratively in a team environment, and follow instructions with minimal supervision.
