Internship - Business Management for Environmental Consulting

Location: Seattle, WA / Irvine, CA / Hybrid

Compensation: $23.00 / hour

What Is the Opportunity?

Anchor QEA is seeking a highly motivated Business Management Intern to support strategic growth, financial planning, and market analysis across our environmental practice. This internship is designed for MBA students who want hands-on exposure to real-world strategy and financial decision-making in a mission-driven, technically complex organization.

The intern will work directly with senior leadership to analyze where we are today, identify trends shaping our markets, and help inform decisions that position the firm for sustainable growth in 2026 and beyond. The internship culminates in an executive-facing capstone project that integrates market intelligence, financial analysis, and strategic insights tied to our environmental business.

What Are We Looking For?



  • Currently enrolled in an MBA program, preferably with a focus in strategy, finance, analytics, or operations
  • Demonstrated experience building and interpreting
    analytical or financial models (e.g., forecasting and scenario analysis)
  • Experience with Excel (pivot tables, scenario modeling, sensitivity analysis) and financial modeling; familiarity with client resource management systems or PowerBI is a plus
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with comfort structuring ambiguous problems using incomplete or imperfect data
  • Ability to interpret and synthesize technical or quantitative information into business insights
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and a project management mindset, with the ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines
  • Interest in environmental restoration, climate resilience, or funding-driven public-sector markets
  • Professional, collaborative idea-with a sense of curiosity and fun along the way



What Are the Responsibilities?

Deliver a structured, data-driven capstone project that informs growth strategy, investment decisions, or market positioning. To support this goal, the business management intern may be asked to:



  • Partner with the Market Growth Initiative Leader to conduct market research, competitive analysis, and funding stream assessments supporting targeted growth initiatives
  • Collaborate with the Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) Leader to connect market insights with financial performance for pipeline, sales, backlog, and revenue trends
  • Analyze historical and current financial performance by market segment and identify risks and opportunities tied to revenue realization
  • Assist in evaluating organic growth opportunities and support preliminary assessment of potential merger and acquisition (M&A) targets, including financial and strategic considerations
  • Analyze client resource management and sales pipeline data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities
  • Support development and review of financial and scenario-based models used for investment and growth planning
  • Prepare clear, concise analyses and presentations for senior leadership and internal stakeholders
  • Conduct research on prospective clients, industries, funding programs, and emerging market trends in resilience and restoration
  • Assist with data analysis, synthesis, and report development related to strategic initiatives
