JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB SUMMARY:

The Production Yard Foreman supervises and coordinates activities of trade workers and supervisors on assigned projects. This Foreman has the authority to make decisions involved with carrying out the below responsibilities on their assigned tasks, but with very little deviation from plans and goals provided by the Assistant Production Manager and Production Manager. This position requires the ability to work long hours, including nights and weekends, on short notice.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Develops and implements a maintenance schedule for company vehicles and machinery, and documents performed maintenance.

2. Responsible for all small boat maintenance and operations.

3. Responsible for company forklift maintenance schedules and documentation.

4. Responsible for routine maintenance and operations of ECR and River Port fire pumps.

5. Responsible for maintenance and monitoring of temporary fire main on vessels.

6. Monitors conditions of and performs maintenance to Riverport piers.

7. Operates potable water services.

8. Operates CHT services.

9. Maintains freeze protection.

10. Coordinates all material movements in and out of the ships force warehouse.

11. Responsible for laydown area materials, and their organization.

12. Responsible for carpentry work for all temp service and miscellaneous requests.

13. Directs daily tasks to assigned trade personnel and supervisors on assigned projects.

14. Reviews and implements daily plans to maintain the production schedules while meeting task budgets.

15. Analyzes and resolves day to day issues including personnel conflicts, safety concerns, quality issues, and material constraints.

16. Assesses areas of concern prior to assigning personnel to a task and reviews the concerns with the personnel to implement a strategy to ensure compliance with all technical and safety requirements.

17. Assembles and submits Condition Found Reports (CFRs) either to the Assistant Production Manager for review or directly to the Project Manager/Superintendent on assigned projects.

18. Conducts daily safety Job Hazard Analysis with assigned personnel and maintains QA documentation as required for tasks being accomplished.

19. Attends production meetings and reports on issues, concerns, and daily progress to the Project Superintendent and/or Project Manager.

20. Responsible for the coaching, training, and evaluation of department staff.

21. Ensure organizational compliance with all safety, quality, and environmental, state, local and federal regulations.

22. Performs other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

1. Ability to work with minimal direction, and independently determine methods and procedures on new assignments and provide guidance to others.

2. Ability to determine appropriate actions, methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for expediting results by exercising independent judgment within defined practices and policies.

3. Ability to follow an organized method in approach to work while being cognizant of the time needed to provide a service or product.

4. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret, technical procedures and governmental regulations.

5. Ability to write reports.

7. Strong communication skills, including oral, written and interpersonal skills are necessary for effective communication between management and customers.

8. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Must be able to read and interpret blueprints.

9. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

10. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. High School diploma or GED required.

2. Three to five years related marine, shipyard or industrial experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

3. Willingness to work a flexible schedule.

4. Must have Microsoft Office Software experience.

5. Ability to gain access to military installations.

6. Must pass a drug test and background check.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

1. Ability to lift 50 pounds regularly and seek help with weights over 50 pounds.

2. Ability to sit and/or stand for long periods of time.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs/vertical ladders; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

This is a physically demanding position and may accommodate some physical disabilities. Physical dexterity may be required when performing walk thru and inspection of job sites. In the performance of the walk thru you will be required to transverse steep stairwells, vertical ladders and bending or stooping thru tight spaces. There may be occasional lifting of materials weighing not more than 50 pounds.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:

This position works on the jobsite. There is exposure to hostile environments, loud noises, hazardous chemicals/fumes and airborne particles, smoke, extreme temperatures moving mechanical parts: high, precarious places.

During work-site visits will be required to wear appropriate PPE including, but not limited to:

Hard hat

Ear plugs or attenuator

Safety shoes

Dust mask or respirator

Gloves
