YOUR OPPORTUNITY


We have an exciting Director of Genetic Supply opportunity in our Hennessey, OK office. In this highly impactful role, you will be a key member of the Live Operations team. The Director of Supply will play a pivotal role in providing high quality replacement females for Seaboard Food's sow farms. In this position, you will lead the development and execution of comprehensive health strategies for gilt development units and gene transfer centers, and be responsible for the associated production teams within these facilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Define and communicate clear health improvement objectives for genetic programs, considering both short-term and long-term goals.
  • Implement robust surveillance and monitoring systems to track the health status of genetic systems.
  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of health improvement initiatives.
  • Develop, implement, and continually refine biosecurity and biocontainment policies within the genetic system.
  • Establish specific protocols for support department functions within the GDU and gene transfer center system to uphold biosecurity standards.
  • Implement training programs for staff involved in gilt development farms to improve their knowledge around animal health and biosecurity.
  • Work closely with production managers to ensure seamless integration of gilts into the overall production system.
  • Develop and manage budgets for gilt development programs.
  • Lead production operations teams to achieve targeted production metrics, including targeted growth rate, livability, selection objectives, and cost of production.
  • Manage relationships, including P/L responsibility, communication and engagement with genetic suppliers

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Required:



  • A bachelor's or advanced degree in Animal Science, Veterinary Medicine, or a related field.
  • Extensive experience (typically 5+ years) in production management within the swine industry.
  • In-depth understanding of swine genetics and production practices.
  • Knowledge of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in health and production.
  • Proven track record in formulating and implementing comprehensive health strategies for swine genetic programs.
  • Strong analytical skills to conduct thorough analyses and devise strategies for enhanced outcomes in production and cost efficiency.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with a history of successfully managing and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to work closely with production managers, suppliers, and other stakeholders for integrated and effective operations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with executives, production teams, and industry partners.

SCHEDULE


As needed, the hours and days of work are established by departmental needs and at the discretion of management. After-hours, weekends, and overnight travel as requested.
