Description

As a member of the Five College Korean Language Program, the Department of East Asian Languages and Cultures at Smith College invites applications for a renewable three-year benefits-eligible position at the rank of Lecturer, to begin July 1, 2026. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching five Korean language courses each academic year. This position, housed at Smith College, contributes to the Five College Korean Language Program Initiative. Candidates must have a native or near-native fluency in Korean and English, and experience in language teaching at all levels, with a commitment to excellence in teaching. A Master's degree in Korean language pedagogy or a related field, is expected by the time of appointment. Candidates from groups underrepresented in Asian Studies are encouraged to apply.


In addition to a competitive benefits package, starting pay range for this position is typically between $78,300-$80,400. Actual compensation will vary based on individual qualifications.
