Position Overview

dormakaba is seeking a EHS Intern based in Indianapolis, IN (onsite). This role will report directly to the EH&S Manager. The EHS Intern will be responsible for completing a long-term safety project. At the conclusion of the internship, the intern will deliver a formal presentation and written report to plant and global leadership summarizing findings, outcomes, and recommendations. The intern will also implement Global EHS directives as assigned.

HOURLY HIRING RANGE: $19/hr. - $23/hr. (Pay rate to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)

What you will do
  • Support plant heat stress monitoring efforts and train on using heat stress monitoring devices to collect, analyze, and track heat stress data
  • Conduct noise mapping activities by developing an updated site noise map that identifies ambient noise levels by department
  • Develop and distribute daily safety messaging for the site in the form of brief "Toolbox Talks" to appropriate personnel.
  • Perform weekly hazardous waste storage inspections and monthly spill prevention inspections in accordance with site requirements
  • Lead morning safety tours (audits) of production areas and document observations and findings in the site tracking system
What we require
  • Pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree with anticipated graduation date in December 2026 through Spring 2029
  • Ability to work full-time, 40 hours per week for 10-12 weeks (May-August 2026)
What we prefer
  • Students in Environmental Health and Safety or other related course of study
