DataBank Central Engineering is a team responsible for delivering mission critical infrastructure for DataBank's collocate date center business. Portfolio consists of small leased/owned facilities to large campuses.

DataBank is seeking a Junior Infrastructure Engineer with an electrical engineering background and some experience with small to large scale data center facility design, construction, and operations. This candidate will be responsible for independently completing electrical engineering tasks and assisting Infrastructure and Sr. Infrastructure Engineers with ensuring mission critical facility designs meet DataBank's Basis of Design and technical standards. The position requires travel as needed, vendor interaction beginning with the design process, construction, and commissioning of the installed systems. This position is part of an engineering team that are subject matter experts and provide engineering support for the entire organization.

Roles & Responsibilities

? Provide engineering support for internal Colo Engineering, Construction, Facilities, Operations, Sustainability, and Sales teams.

o Update site electrical single-lines to reflect as-built conditions via investigative field work, revised short circuit analysis, redlines, and coordination with site facilities and operations teams.

o Review equipment submittals & RFI's for construction and procurement.

o Assist with development of Method of Procedures (MOP's) and Sequence of Operations (SOP's) for facility systems.

o Perform site or data hall capacity analysis and update electrical capacity database for data center facilities via investigative field work and research.

o Support customer audits and sales RFP documentation.

o Participate in startup, commissioning, and integrated systems testing.

o Participate in energy conservation and efficiency improvement initiatives for new and existing facilities.

? Review and approve MOP's per DataBank Change Control process and policy to minimize risk to data center operations and ensuring personnel safety.

Qualifications

? Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from an ABET-accredited program.

? 1-2 years of relevant experience in various aspects of data center design, maintenance, and operations.

? Basic understanding of various power distribution topology designs: Distributed redundant, Block redundant, Catcher/reserve, etc.

? General knowledge of data center facility electric power distribution systems from the substation (medium voltage) to the rack level (240/415V or 120/208V) utilizing electrical switchgear, protection schemes, standby generators, uninterruptible power systems (UPS), automatic/static transfer systems (ATS/STS), bus duct, power distribution units (PDU's), remote power panels (RPP's).

? Working knowledge of data center electrical systems, functions, and concepts:

o Basic electrical calculations (kVA, kW, power factor, etc.)

o Understanding of electrical single-line diagrams and with ability to identify individual components and their function.

o Datacenter electrical equipment including MV Switchgear, UPS, Diesel Engine Generators, Distribution Switchgear and Switchboards, Panelboards, Disconnect Switches, Circuit Breakers, Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) Systems, Power Distribution Units (PDU) Static Transfer Switches (STS).

? Experience with AutoCAD, BlueBeam Revu, and MS Office Suite

? Willing and able to work non-standard hours to support excursions due to unexpected data center outages, critical maintenance, commissioning, etc.

? Experience with technical writing, documentation, with solid communication skills with attention to detail.

? Must be able to self-manage, prioritize, and successfully execute multiple concurrent tasks as part of a team distributed across multiple time zones in a fast-paced environment.
