Senior Geotechnical Engineer/Transportation Asset Management Consultant

HDR is seeking an experienced Senior Geotechnical Engineer / Transportation Asset Management Consultant to join our growing team. In this role, you will support our national geotechnical practice while helping clients advance their asset management strategies. This position offers the opportunity to work on impactful infrastructure projects and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across the country.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and prepare geotechnical investigations or design activities that have significant impact on major company programs
  • Organize, conduct, and coordinate or manage geotechnical investigations for transportation and other projects
  • Perform geotechnical technical analyses, prepare geotechnical reports and coordinate with designers to implement recommendations
  • Function as a Technical Specialist or Project Manager on local projects as needed, but project management is not the sole focus of this position
  • Provide HDR's advisory consulting services to our clients, including asset management strategies, and perform data analyses and document results, and make recommendations on alternatives related to operation and business management changes
  • Direct complex qualitative and quantitative analyses related to operational and business management changes and their impacts
  • Direct written reports/visual representations of findings independently related to options and change evaluations and perform QA/QC
  • Contribute statistical analysis of project data, forecasting and benchmarks
  • Achieve client satisfaction and meet project budget parameters
  • Actively lead client meetings, manage client relationships with minimal input from senior staff, and provide guidance to more junior staff
  • Participate in marketing efforts of both internal and external clients
  • Supervise professionals, technicians and design teams, as needed
  • Perform other duties as needed

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in related field
  • Experience with data analysis and visualization software such as Tableau and Power BI
  • Experience with GeoStudio/Ensoft slope stability, settlement, seepage, and deep foundation response software, as appropriate
  • Knowledge of advanced numerical modeling techniques such as Finite Difference, Finite Element, Discrete Element, etc. and commercial software for advanced numerical modeling (Bentley, PLAXIS, Itasca FLAC)
  • Experience with Bentley suite of geotechnical data management and visualization software (gINT/OpenGround/LeapFrog)
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree
  • 10 years of experience
  • Requires professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered. Example: Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng) license.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications, GIS, and CADD, as appropriate
  • Experience with GeoStudio/Ensoft slope stability, settlement, seepage, and deep foundation response software, as appropriate
  • Experience with Bentley suite of geotechnical data management and visualization software (gINT/OpenGround/LeapFrog)
  • Knowledge of advanced numerical modeling techniques such as Finite Difference, Finite Element, Discrete Element, etc. and commercial software for advanced numerical modeling (Bentley, PLAXIS, Itasca FLAC)
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
