As a Security Officer - Logistics Gatehouse in Portland, OR, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Logistics & Distribution, and more. As an Allied Universal Security Officer supporting a busy logistics and distribution location, you will focus on access control by greeting drivers and visitors, confirming credentials, issuing badges, and logging entries in digital systems. You will monitor key points, communicate clearly with site teams, and help maintain smooth traffic flow at the gate. What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service to clients at a logistics and distribution location by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
  • Control access at gates, docks, and building entrances by verifying identification, checking visitor and contractor authorization, and issuing temporary credentials per site procedures.
  • Manage driver check-in and check-out processes by confirming pickup and delivery appointments, directing traffic flow to assigned areas, and maintaining required entry logs.
  • Support shipping and receiving operations by coordinating with site contacts for trailer drop and hook, seal verification, and restricted-area access approvals.
  • Monitor access control systems, alarms, and cameras, and report unusual activity to site leadership and/or Allied Universal supervision.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, including medical calls, disturbances, and traffic-related issues within the facility perimeter.
  • Complete required documentation such as incident reports, access logs, and shift activity reports in accordance with site requirements.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols around the business and perimeter, including parking areas, trailer yards, and exterior doors, noting and reporting hazards and/or suspicious conditions.
  • Assist with loss prevention support by observing for unauthorized entry attempts and/or policy violations that could help to deter theft and cargo tampering.
  • Communicate clearly with employees, visitors, drivers, and contractors to provide directions, answer questions, and de-escalate concerns when needed.
  • Support emergency procedures by assisting with evacuations, staging areas, and accountability processes as directed by site leadership and/or emergency responders.
  • Perform additional security-related duties as assigned by Allied Universal and site management based on operational needs.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Being comfortable using a computer or tablet is preferred.
  • A Guard Card/license is preferred.
  • CPR certification is preferred.
  • Access control/badge experience is preferred.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
