The Network Operations Center (NOC) Wireless Network Administrator will provide operations support to an important government customer specific to the Cisco product portfolio. The Wireless Network Administrator is responsible for ensuring infrastructure availability that meets established SLA and performance metrics to a level acceptable to the government customer.

The Wireless Administrator will provide expert-level support, design, implementation, and troubleshooting for Cisco wireless networks across the enterprise. The admin will serve as the primary technical resource for all wireless networking initiatives, ensuring secure, reliable, and high-performance wireless connectivity.

The Administrator will provide management and support to vendor- and technology-diverse networks and infrastructures. This position is part of a highly technical team responsible for 24x7x365 support of a worldwide network containing over 2,800 networking devices that include switches, routers and wireless access points. The position also supports several network management systems that monitor the availability of the different layers of the IP stack (Devices, applications, interfaces, etc.) running in the environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Optimize Cisco wireless solutions (including Cisco Catalyst and related technologies).
  • Perform RF analysis.
  • Troubleshoot complex wireless issues and provide root cause analysis.
  • Develop and maintain wireless network documentation, including diagrams, standards, and procedures.
  • Collaborate with network engineers, security teams, and stakeholders to integrate wireless solutions with existing infrastructure.
  • Implement security best practices for wireless networks.
  • Provide technical guidance and training for personnel.
  • Stay current with emerging wireless technologies and Cisco product updates.
  • Design and implementation of high availability (Redundancy and N+1).
  • Design and implementation of guest network portals and integration with Cisco ISE.
  • Design and implementation of mesh networks.
  • Design and implementation of mDNS through Cisco WLC for various networks.
  • Create and maintain Wireless Intrusion Detection and reporting.
  • Provides technical/management leadership on major tasks or technology assignments.
  • Implement, install, configure, operate, and maintain a range of network operations tools and applications to include Cisco WLAN, Extreme Management Center (XMC), Cisco ISE NAC and Zscaler.
  • Utilizes software and hardware tools and identifies and diagnoses complex problems and factors affecting network performance.
  • Advanced troubleshooting and support all operational security requirements for network devices and network operations tools and applications.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Monitor, create, edit, and enforce all standard operating procedures, processes and timelines.

Required Skills/Experience:

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and pass the DHS Employment Eligibility Verification process.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 5-10 years of experience in designing, implementing, and supporting Cisco wireless networks.
  • Cisco certifications such as CCNP Wireless or higher.
  • Expert knowledge of Cisco wireless products (Catalyst, WLCs, APs).
  • Strong understanding of wireless protocols (802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ax), RF fundamentals, and wireless security.
  • Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and communication skills (RF, controllers, clients, and network services).
  • Experience in large enterprises or government environments.
  • Familiarity with network monitoring and management tools (Cisco ISE, Cisco Catalyst Center).
  • Experience with routing and switching protocols to complement wireless knowledge.
  • Experience with security protocols for wireless and wired networking (WPA2/3 with PSK/SAE, dot1x, radius, web auth, etc.)
  • Expert knowledge of wireless LAN controller ACLs and security.
  • Expert knowledge of flex connect.

Preferred Skills/Experience:

  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate.
  • Microsoft Azure Networking Solutions (AZ-700).
  • Ability to obtain Top Secret/SCI security clearance if required.

  • Effectively communicate with customers, stakeholders, and technical specialists.
