Position summary:

This role will support the Director of Data Center Development in driving the growth of the utility business by analyzing market trends, client needs, and competitive landscape. This role involves conducting research, preparing reports, and assisting in the development of strategic initiatives.

Pay Range: This posting includes the full pay range for this position. Pay is based on a number of factors and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and internal equity.
Level I: $71,100 - $106,600
Senior: $90,900 - $136,500

Reporting Relationship: Director of Data Center Development

Location: Rapid City, South Dakota

Essential Functions:
* Conduct detailed market research to identify trends, opportunities, and challenges within the data center sector.
* Analyze data related to client needs, industry standards, and regulatory requirements to inform strategic decisions.
* Prepare comprehensive reports and presentations for senior management, highlighting key findings and recommendations.
* Prepare proposals and presentations to showcase the utility's services and value proposition. Draft contracts, correspondence, and reports for the leadership team.
* Assist in client meetings, presentations, and negotiations by providing relevant data and insights.
* Ensure all research and analysis activities comply with industry standards and regulations. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of regulatory requirements affecting data center operations and utility services.
* Identify areas for improvement in data collection and analysis processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
* Collaborate with internal teams to ensure alignment with overall business objectives. Work closely with internal teams (e.g., regulatory, finance, generation, operations, etc.) to ensure seamless service delivery and client satisfaction.
* Provide regular updates to leadership on client acquisition efforts and growth initiatives.
* Assist in developing comprehensive project plans by defining objectives, establishing timelines, and preparing detailed schedules and budgets to ensure alignment with strategic goals.
* Support preparation of project status reports by tracking milestone progress, documenting changes in scope, schedule, and costs, and providing clear updates to stakeholders for informed decision-making.

What Is Required:
All Levels:
* Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
* Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Demonstrated ability in developing and maintaining project schedules.
* Proficient in computer applications including Microsoft Office and various specialized software.
* Ability to highlight opportunities and provide clear communication to a broad audience that will assist in driving change.
* This role will be required to travel up to 10% of the time.
Level I:
* Minimum of 3 years' experience in business development, data analytics, market research or a related role is required.
* Ability to quickly analyze issues, prepare comprehensive analysis and recommend solutions and alternatives for identifying/solving specific issues.
Senior:
* Minimum of 5 years' experience in business development, data analytics, market research or a related role is required.
* Demonstrated ability in quickly analyzing issues, preparing comprehensive analysis and recommending solutions and alternatives for identifying/solving specific issues.
* Strong understanding of the data center industry and its operational needs, and knowledge of utility services and their application in data center operations.
* Ability to think critically and strategically about business opportunities and challenges.
* Demonstrated ability to work independently, take initiative, and drive tasks to completion without constant supervision.

What Is Desired:
* Experience in the utility or data center industry is preferred.
* Understanding of the data center industry and its operational needs, and knowledge of utility services and their application in data center operations.
* Understanding of the utility regulatory process and rate analysis for both gas and electric utility service.
* Ability to think critically and strategically about business opportunities and challenges.
* Demonstrated ability to work independently, take initiative, and drive tasks to completion without constant supervision.
