Synchron has an exciting opportunity for a Strategic Systems Program/COLUMBIA (SSP/CLB) Coordination Assistant and Technical Correspondence Coordinator to provide technical support to the Navy's PMS397 Program Office. PMS397 oversees the design, construction, and delivery of the COLUMBIA Class Ballistic Missile Submarine (SSBN). PMS397T1 is the Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) ship integration technical authority for system design and systems engineering for the COLUMBIA Class submarines. You will provide direct support to the Navy's future undersea warfare programs and systems.

The CLB/SSP Coordination Assistant and Technical Correspondence Coordinator advises and provides direct support to the PMS397 Project Officer and coordinates information exchange among various PMS397 branches, specifically SSP, as well as other internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the COLUMBIA Common Missile Compartment (CMC) Coordination Team with issues regarding the coordinated development, construction, and implementation of SSP assets and systems on the COLUMBIA Class platform.
  • Assist Systems Engineers in the drafting and coordination of technical correspondence with respect to CMC systems
  • Review incoming correspondence from the design yard and other stakeholder organizations
  • Assist the systems engineers in developing and tracking comment resolutions using program management databases and tools
  • Research requirements, conduct analyses, generate reports, and provide general program management support and programmatic administrative support and coordination
  • Develop presentations and briefing material if necessary
  • Coordinate and/or participate in meetings and teleconferences with multiple stakeholders concerning technical issues, requested/recommended changes, and status
  • Support in managing the disposition of pertinent program documentation
  • Interface with various government and contractor representatives as needed to ensure the overall goals and objectives of the program are met



Education and Experience:

  • Experience working with technical documentation, specifically wiring diagrams and shipboard installation documentation
  • Bachelors' degree in related discipline (engineering preferred) with 5 - 7 years of experience or highly specialized knowledge of the Strategic Weapons Systems
  • Experience working with Strategic Weapons System and/or previous experience working within the SSP/CLB coordination process preferred
  • Knowledge of English grammar, spelling, punctuation and the Navy Correspondence Manual to prepare and edit written material
  • Ability to use a variety of software products (e.g. MS Office, MS Outlook, Adobe Acrobat) and information systems (e.g. LiveLink/CDMS, CITIS).
  • Ability to understand and succinctly summarize, communicate, and document technical issues.
  • Two (2) years of experience with Navy shipboard (submarine preferred) Strategic Weapons Systems and acquisition programs preferred
  • DoD Secret security clearance.



Work Location: Washington Navy Yard with telework options possible (1-2 days per week).

Travel: Less than 5 percent.
