SUMMARY:
We are currently seeking a Practice Supervisor to join our Emergency Department. This position works 72 hours per 2 week pay period, (.9) day shift with occasional on-call requirements.

Purpose of this position: Under the supervision of the Nurse Manager and in collaboration with the Medical Directors, coordinates and maintains daily operational activities of the practice, to include patient flow and staffing, to maximize patient satisfaction and service for all customers. Responsible for implementing performance / quality improvement and customer service initiatives to create superior patient experience. Ensure maximal efficiency of systems through problem solving, conflict management, critical thinking, and creativity.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for assisting in the management of daily departmental operations including designing, implementing, and maintaining services to ensure efficient patient flow
  • Assists leadership in enforcing organizational and departmental policies and procedures, protecting patient safety and confidentiality and ensuring the integrity of the department
  • In collaboration with department leadership, establishes and monitors performance, quality improvement activities, ensures patient-centered service, and verifies employee competencies
  • Ensures a safe environment for patients, visitors and staff, and maintains compliance with all safety requirements impacting areas of responsibility
  • Consistently delivers employee evaluation, feedback, recognition, and disciplinary action as needed; develops leadership capabilities in team members
  • Reviews work for accuracy and conformance with departmental policies and procedures
  • Works collaboratively with all staff to improve efficient and effective operations
  • Promotes a congenial work environment among staff based on mutual respect
  • Demonstrates and fosters good customer service skills to promote optimal patient satisfaction
  • Assists in the preparation of the budget to ensure appropriate fiscal and human resource management
  • Represents the department on cross-functional teams, committees, task forces, and assumes leadership roles as applicable
  • Assists procurement and appropriate maintenance of medical and pharmaceutical supplies
  • Assures on-going compliance with accreditation, credentialing, regulatory and professional standards, as well as policies and procedures impacting the clinical area
  • Maintains effective working relations through strong communication skills across the organization
  • Meets with staff on a frequent basis to disseminate information, provide employees with opportunities for input and problem solving, and follow up on items brought forward
  • Demonstrates maturity and accountability for job performance, supports the philosophy, objectives and goals of the department and the organization and assesses areas of personal and professional growth
  • Other duties as assigned, but only after appropriate training

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree in healthcare administration, business, and/or relevant field

-OR-

  • Three (3) years of pertinent clinical experience in applicable clinical area/role

-OR-

  • An approved equivalent combination of education and experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Healthcare administration, and/or business
  • Recent acute care/hospital experience
  • Minimum of 2 years' healthcare experience providing oversight and direction to patient care employees and development of department policies and procedures

Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities:

  • Skilled in overseeing the efforts of individuals within the department
  • Ability to effectively involve department employees in the application of quality measurement and improvement tools
  • Skilled in fostering a positive workplace culture and building inclusive workplace teams
  • Ability to communicate in a professional, clear, succinct and tactful manner both verbally and in writing
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly learn new technologies and systems and provide instruction on complex processes
  • Ability to multi-task, appropriately prioritize, and work well in high-stress situations
  • Capable of assisting managers with decisions and activities
  • Ability to comfortably and effectively facilitate meetings and feedback sessions
  • Effective use of all Windows-based applications such as Word, Excel, OneNote and Power Point
  • Experience with Epic electronic medical record functionality

License/Certifications:

  • Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) or must be obtained prior to orientation completion
