What to Expect
Tesla is looking for a Test Automation Controls Engineer to design and build automated test systems for Energy R&D across Industrial, Residential, and Charging products.You'llwork closely with electrical, mechanical, software, and firmware teams to deliver the controls, automation, and supporting hardware thatvalidatenext-gen energy products.
What You'll Do
- Build back-end Python architectures and front-end JS interfaces for automated test systems
- Develop Python-based hardware controls, data pipelines, and analysis tools for each product line
- Define BOMs,componentselections, and hardware automation specifications
- Capture controls schematics in AutoCAD
- Design PCBs in Altium for custom test hardware
- Work with technicians and CMs to build andvalidatepanels, wiring, and PLC/I/O/DAQ integration
- Integrate firmware with custom PCBs and test hardware; own bring-up and debugging
- Troubleshoot hardware, automation, and infrastructure issues and improve system reliability
What You'll Bring
- Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent, or equivalent experience
- 3+ years building hardware automation systems
- Strong Python experience for hardware control, data collection, and analysis
- Altium experience (schematic, layout, PCB design)
- Solid understanding of electrical fundamentals and electro-mechanical design
- Experience with PLCs, motion control, DAQs, and hardware protocols (SPI, I2C, UART)

Expected Compensation
$133,440 - $200,160/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
