What You'll Do
  • Conceptualize, design, and detail mechanical components and assemblies using SolidWorks for automation cells, robotic end effectors
  • Perform Tolerance analysis, FEA simulations, and material selection to ensure robustness under real world dynamic conditions
  • Collaborate closely with electrical and controls engineers to size and select actuators, sensors and vision systems
  • Build and test prototypes in our in-house engineering lab, get your hands dirty creating prof of concept test systems
  • Contribute Fresh ideas in concept reviews and brainstorming sessions for new projects
  • Work with the machine shop to create and release your creations for fabrication
  • Participate in assembly and debug of systems on our production floor and learn firsthand what it takes to build an automation system and all the nuances of good machine design
  • Travel with the machine to the various Giga factories across the US to install and commission your machines. This could be a 24-7 weekend sprint for an upgrade, a small install, or a 3-month installation of a massive new production line

What You'll Bring
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to conceptualize and create mechanical designs from concepts
  • Proficiency in using solid modeling CAD design software
  • Hands on experience with prototyping (3D printing, machining, hobby projects)
  • Humility and decisiveness: Humility to ask and learn from everyone. Decisiveness to make a call when sometimes you don't have all the information you need
  • New Grad to 4 years of experience in mechanical design
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience
