Who We Are We are Tennis! The USTA (United States Tennis Association) is the national governing body for the sport of tennis and the leader in promoting and developing the sport's growth on every level in the United States, from local communities to the crown jewel of the professional game, the US Open. The RoleWorking within the Technology, US Open, and Enterprise Systems department, the Graduate Intern will contribute to projects that provide significant experiential learning and research opportunities. Through these projects, the intern will become fully immersed in US Open Operations and gain access to professional development, engagement opportunities, and mentoring from USTA staff in preparation for the 2025 US Open. Primary Responsibilities
    Transform data and develop dashboards and data visualizations in Tableau to support the needs of a major sports organization
  • Engage with multiple stakeholders to understand business and data requirements; design and iterate on visual concepts and prototypes for review and feedback
  • Assist with database maintenance and data wrangling
  • Collaborate effectively on team-based initiatives while independently managing individual project tasks
Potential Project Areas Diversity Reporting
  • Support the USTA Diversity, Equity & Inclusion team in developing analytical reports and dashboards to measure progress toward diversity goals
  • Establish data delivery mechanisms, organize data in normalized structures, and build reports and dashboards used in business decision-making
Sales & Marketing Reporting
  • Assist the US Open Marketing Team in migrating analytical products and reporting from one data warehouse environment to another
  • Contribute to the development and enhancement of visualizations, data pipelines, validation processes, auditing procedures, and associated documentation
USA Tennis Analytics
  • Support enhancements to reporting and analytics tools used across USA Tennis
  • Participate in developing and refining visualizations, data pipelines, validation processes, and documentation
Program details:
  • 8-week program from June 9 through August 11 with potential to extend through the US Open.
  • Schedule: Monday-Friday, 9:00 AM-5:00 PM ET
  • Hybrid role requiring 3 days per week on-site at our Westchester Office.
  • Compensation: $35.00 per hour
Who You Are
  • Possess strong statistics and data analysis skills
  • Have experience with data visualization tools (Tableau preferred), scripting languages (Python), and databases/data warehouses (Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, Amazon Redshift)
  • Experience building data pipelines in a professional setting (e.g., internship) is a plus
  • Working knowledge of Amazon Web Services tools such as S3 and AWS Lambda is encouraged
  • A strong understanding of business operations is beneficial
