Senior Manager, Incident Management (Houston) Job Summary/Purpose All members of NRG's safety function will be expected to own safety, work to prevent incidents and seek to improve with the understanding that zero harm is possible. The Sr Manager, Incident Management will develop, deploy, execute, manage and improve assigned safety and occupational health programs, with an emphasis on Incident Management and Corrective Action programs. There will be regular opportunities to demonstrate skills in change management, contract management and communications. This position will also be required to present to leadership the health of the program for which they are responsible, communicate any deficiencies identified and develop sustainable solutions to prevent future issues. It will be expected that the Sr Manager, Incident Management engages with their peers to support their growth and build bench strength within the safety function. Job Duties/Responsibilities
- Lead or support root cause analysis for incidents when required or requested by corporate, fleet, or plant leadership.
- Develop, implement and/or manage necessary tracking tools and platforms for incidents, root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Liaise with and support business unit safety and operational leadership to lead and influence continuous improvement across NRG.
- Manage the implementation, maintenance, validation and revision of assigned safety and occupational health management system components.
- Manage applicable processes, platforms, resources and contracts associated with assigned safety programs.
- Lead and/or participate in internal and external special project teams with the purpose of continuous improvement.
- Engage, develop, and maintain relationships with external partners, organizations, and memberships.
- Develop and perform trending analysis to drive continuous improvement across the organization
- Perform and/or assist with data entry/extraction/modification in various information platforms used at power plants and in corporate roles (Intelex, Success Factors, PI, etc.).
- Support and encourage the growth and development of safety professionals across the organization through coaching and mentorship.
- Periodically travel to NRG sites including corporate buildings, power plants, and job sites.
Working Conditions:
- Work overtime and non-standard working hours as directed
- Ability to travel 25% of the time
- Possess a valid Driver's License at all times
- Requires wearing personal protective safety equipment
- May entail lifting (<50lbs), climbing, walking and standing for extended periods of time
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Minimum Education:Bachelor's Required or equivalent work experience Minimum Experience:10+ years industry/safety experience with 4+ years Power Plant experience preferred Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities
- Strong understanding of safety regulations in the Electric Power Generation industry
- Thorough understanding of applicable OSHA regulations and industry guidelines.
- Extensive experience performing investigations/RCAs with tools such as TapRoot, Cause Mapping, Fishbone, Five whys, etc.
- Experience working within safety and occupational health management systems
- Experience with change management and project management.
- Ability to observe, engage effectively and partner with leaders, front line employees and contract partners
- Skilled in analyzing and interpreting data to identify trends utilizing tools such as Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerBI, SAS, etc.
- Ability to train and/or develop training materials associated with assigned management system components
- Demonstrative knowledge of AI tools and applications relevant to the role.
- Ability to manage multiple activities and changing priorities independently
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to work irregular hours and out of town assignments as required
- Ability to learn region-specific bargaining unit agreements
