HDR is looking for an Alabama Highways Market Sector Leader to join our Transportation Business Group in Birmingham or Mobile. This individual must have a known reputation with ALDOT and statewide municipalities and counties. This role would support business development and project delivery for the Highways and Roads Market Sector in the state of Alabama. The Alabama Highway Market Sector Lead will facilitate the development and implementation of business strategies across Alabama in coordination with Business Group leadership, operational leadership, client managers and business class directors. They will report to the Alabama Transportation Business Group Manager, and be responsible for frequent and regular communication to implement the strategic operating plans for the market sector consistent with overall Transportation Business Group strategy. On a day-to-day basis, they'll be expected to:

  • Promote marketing and delivery of all HDR services to clients within Alabama working with our client managers and project managers.
  • Work with the Area Business Group Manager on development and delivery of market sector initiatives.
  • Work with Area client development leaders to drive client development and pursuit processes based on proven capture techniques.
  • Support selected Alabama area pursuits through client relationship development or through development of strategy and participation in pursuit activities.
  • Participate in industry associations and serve as a company role-model in business and community organizations.
  • Monitor marketing capabilities and provide Highways and Roads market sector support to help the AL/GA Area achieve goals.
  • Develop relationships with industry counterparts in other consulting organizations.
  • Develop relationships with senior leadership in key client organizations.
  • Lead and/or assist with the identification and recruitment of prospective future market sector employees.
  • Monitor market sector performance indicators NFE/NFB/profits/positive equity/AR/losses/investments.
  • Develop a local business development plan and implementation of contact strategies for ALDOT and statewide agencies.
  • Pursue work locally and nationally (local projects might include larger more complex projects).
  • Support local staff with mentorship, training, and quality reviews on Area projects.
  • Integrate into local project work.
  • Execute Market Sector initiatives and strategies.

Preferred Qualifications

  • If an engineer, maintain engineering registration
  • Local candidates are preferred

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in an engineering, planning or a related field
  • A minimum of 10 years of industry experience
  • Experienced in development and management of strategic marketing programs for planning and/or engineering services
  • Experienced in development and management of a wide range of client relationships and specific program and/or project pursuits
  • Experienced in overall staff development to include recruiting, career path and professional growth
  • Experienced with industry associations and maintains a visible profile in the market sector
  • Ability to work cooperatively with Regional Market Sector Directors, Market Sector Directors, Business Class Directors, Regional Business Group Directors, Area Business Group Managers, Area Marketing Managers and Area Managers
  • Demonstrated commitment to HDR values. An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
