Assistant Professor of Practice in Art Education 43254BR School of Art Position Description The School of Art within the Texas Tech University J.T. & Margaret Talkington College of Visual & PerformingArts,invites applications for full-time, 9-month, Assistant Professor of Practice in Art Education and Undergraduate Art Education Coordinator to begin in the Fall of 2026. The ideal candidate should be able to coordinate the BFA in Art Education program, guide students through academic and professional pathways, and contribute service to the department, university, and broader community. This position requires collaborative work with the College of Education and sustained relationships with PK-12 public schools, including participation in accreditation processes, preparation of program documentation, and engagement in state and national review cycles. Teaching responsibilities include courses introducing the field of art education, methods courses that integrate both digital and traditional studio practices appropriate for school settings, and workshops supporting art education in local and rural communities. The candidate will supervise field experiences and student teaching placements to ensure that pre-service art educators meet licensure and professional standards. The role also involves offering practice-based presentations for current teachers, cultivating professional networks with art educators at the local, regional, and national levels, and contributing to department, college, and university service initiatives. About the Department/School/Area The School of Art is NASAD accredited and offers the B.A. in Art (Studio Art, Art History), B.A. in Arts, Media, and Technology; B.F.A. in Art (Art Education, Graphic Design, and Studio Art [Ceramics, Digital Narrative Arts, Jewelry Design and Metalsmithing, Painting, Printmaking, Sculpture]); M.A. in Art History; Master of Art Education; M.F.A. in Studio Art; Ph.D. in Fine Arts with a Track in Art and multiple concentration options.
