The Vice President & Assistant General Counsel is a senior legal leader responsible for providing strategic counsel on all commercial aspects of global relocation services. This role focuses on enabling revenue growth while safeguarding the organization from legal and commercial risk. The VP & Assistant General Counsel partners closely with Operations, Sales, Account Management, and Product teams to structure client agreements, negotiate vendor contracts, support pricing strategies, and manage commercial risk across multiple jurisdictions.


Key Responsibilities



Commercial Legal Leadership



  • Serve as the primary legal advisor for all commercial matters related to global relocation services.


  • Draft, review, and negotiate complex client contracts, vendor agreements, and strategic partnership arrangements to ensure favorable terms and risk mitigation.
  • Provide legal guidance on pricing strategies, revenue models, and commercial terms to balance competitiveness with compliance and profitability.
  • Develop standardized contract templates and playbooks to streamline negotiations and reduce turnaround time.
  • Advise on legal implications of new service offerings, technology integrations, and market expansions.



Risk Management & Compliance



  • Identify and assess commercial risks in client and vendor agreements, recommending strategies to minimize exposure.
  • Implement risk management frameworks for global operations, including escalation protocols for high-risk transactions.
  • Ensure compliance with international trade laws, data privacy regulations, and industry-specific standards.
  • Monitor regulatory developments and proactively update commercial practices to maintain compliance.



Strategic Business Partnership



  • Collaborate with Sales and Account Management teams to structure deals that enable growth while protecting the company's interests.
  • Support Operations in resolving contractual disputes and performance issues with clients and vendors.
  • Partner with Product teams to ensure new offerings comply with legal requirements and contractual obligations.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership on commercial risk and strategic opportunities.



Governance & Policy Development



  • Establish global contracting standards and best practices to ensure consistency and compliance.
  • Develop and deliver training programs for business teams on contract compliance, negotiation strategies, and risk awareness.
  • Maintain oversight of contract lifecycle management systems to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
  • Contribute to corporate governance initiatives related to commercial operations and ethical business conduct.



Leadership & Collaboration



  • Serve as a strategic advisor to providing actionable legal insights that enable commercial growth while safeguarding the organization from risk.
  • Partner closely with Sales, Account Management, Operations, and Product teams to align legal strategies with business objectives, ensuring contracts and commercial terms support revenue goals.
  • Influence decision-making, balancing legal risk with commercial priorities to drive sustainable growth.
  • Lead and mentor a high-performing legal team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Champion cross-functional collaboration, ensuring seamless integration of legal considerations into pricing strategies, client negotiations, and vendor partnerships.
  • Represent the organization externally, engaging with clients, vendors, and industry stakeholders to build trust and strengthen commercial relationships.
  • Drive operational efficiency within legal processes, implementing tools and frameworks that accelerate contract turnaround times without compromising compliance.
  • Promote a proactive approach to risk management, equipping business leaders with guidance and training to identify and mitigate potential issues early.
  • Manage a team of legal professionals.



Ideal Experience/Requirements for Success




  • Juris Doctor/equivalent degree and admission to practice law in at least one jurisdiction.
  • 10+ years of progressive legal experience, with significant focus on commercial law and contract negotiation.
  • Proven experience supporting revenue-generating activities in a global business environment.
  • Strong understanding of risk management, compliance frameworks, and cross-border regulatory issues.
  • Exceptional negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to balance legal risk with business objectives in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.

  • Position Title: Vice President & Assistant General Counsel, Relocation
  • Salary Range: $140,800-$176,000-$211,100 USD
  • Benefits: Comprehensive benefits package that includes Medical, Dental, Vision, 401(k), FSA/HSA, Employer HSA Match, Life & Disability Insurance, Paid Time Off, Volunteer Time Off, ID Theft Protection Plan and more. Benefits are based on employment status and may not be available for temporary or part-time employees



Salary ranges may vary based on location, market conditions, and other factors such as experience and qualifications. The final compensation will be determined during the hiring process based on these considerations.
