This role will lead the I&E technician team, driving continuous improvement initiatives and day-to-day work to completion. This role will also perform regularly scheduled preventative maintenance, monthly safety checks, make repairs and modifications to equipment and repair the facility as needed.

What You Will Do:

  • Lead, mentor, and supervise a team of I&E technicians, fostering a culture of safety, continuous improvement, and technical excellence.

  • Develop, implement, and optimize preventative and predictive maintenance strategies for instrumentation, control systems (DCS DELTAV, PLC, etc.), and electrical distribution equipment.

  • Perform routine calibration and testing of instruments such as flow meters, pressure sensors, temperature transmitters, and level devices, etc. as needed

  • Diagnose complex electrical and instrumentation issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement effective corrective actions to minimize downtime.

  • Manage and prioritize I&E work orders, ensuring efficient resource allocation and timely completion of tasks.

  • Collaborate with engineering, operations, and project teams on new installations, upgrades, and modifications to I&E systems, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and specifications.

  • Oversee calibration, testing, and troubleshooting of a wide range of process instrumentation, including transmitters, control valves, analyzers, and safety interlocks.

  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, company policies, and industry standards (e.g., NEC, ISA, NFPA).

  • Manage I&E spare parts inventory, procurement, and vendor relationships.

  • Develop and deliver training to I&E technicians to enhance their skills and knowledge.

  • Participate in incident investigations and provide technical expertise for resolution and prevention.

  • Prepare and manage I&E maintenance budgets and control expenditures.

  • Lead meetings, such as troubleshooting meetings and RCA/BDAs as needed

  • Troubleshoot issues in the field and make decisions for best path forward

  • Cuts, bends and installs tubing needed for the proper installation of the instrumentation device.

  • Sets controls to regulate factors, such as current flow, timing cycle, pressure or vacuum, or temperature according to specifications.

  • Actively works on troubleshooting, calibration, and maintenance of pneumatic, electronic, analog, and digital process control instrumentation.

  • Troubleshoot/Repair Predictive program instrumentation and document instrumentation repair history in the CMMS system as required by site specific documentation.

  • Ensure replacement spare parts are available or replaced once installed.

  • Performs assignments in the layout, installation, repair, alteration, and maintenance of a wide variety of complex electrical equipment such as process controls, lighting systems, motor controls systems, hi and low voltage electrical.

  • Maintains a strong focus on housekeeping in I&E shop and at job sites in the field.

  • As needed, disassembles instrument or device in order to determine cause of defective operation or failure

  • Makes repairs & modifications to equipment and facilities as scheduled through the work order system

  • Responsible for completing all paperwork assigned and coordinating with the Reliability Supervisor to ensure data is correct and recorded

  • Identify opportunities for process or equipment improvements and communicate recommendations to leadership

  • Support the commissioning and start-up of new instrumentation and electrical systems

  • Drive TPM/Lean initiatives in the I&E headspace

  • Other duties as assigned

Position Details:

  • Plant location: Fresno, TX

  • Work week and shift: Monday - Thursday, 6:30am - 4:30pm

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent

  • 5 years of instrumentation and electrical maintenance within a heavy industrial environment (i.e. chemical, petrochemical, oil & gas, power generation)

  • 3 years of experience in a leadership or supervisory role, managing I&E technicians

  • Experience with CMMS (SAP, EMaint, or other CMMS systems)

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to lift/carry 50 pounds

  • Must be able to pass a drug screen and physical exam

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 8 years experience preferred

  • Formal vocational training in plant maintenance activities with emphasis on maintenance/ instrumentation

  • Strong knowledge of industrial control systems including DCS and PLC (Rockwell, Siemens, Honeywell, Emerson)

  • Extensive experience with various process instrumentation, including flow, level, pressure, temperature, pH, conductivity, analytical devices, and automated/control valves.

  • Strong knowledge of electrical power distribution systems, motor control, and VFDs

  • Knowledge of OSHA and NFPA 70E, and other industry standards and best practices

  • Proficient in reading and interpreting P&IDs, electrical schemes, logic diagrams, and control narratives

  • Able to work in difficult situations such as confined spaces, heat and in high places

  • Experience with pumps, welding, bearings, electrical safety, forklifts, gears, hydraulics, valves and rigging

  • Experience in a TPM/Lean Environment

  • Familiarity with relevant safety standards (e.g., OSHA, NFPA 70E) and hazardous area classifications, and PSM-covered areas

  • Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and leadership abilities.

  • RCA/Taproot experience is a plus

  • Proficiency in CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) software.

  • Ability to work in a challenging industrial environment and respond to emergency situations.

  • Professional certifications (e.g., ISA Certified Control Systems Technician - CCST, Master Electrician) are a plus.

Annual or Hourly Compensation Range:

The pay rate is $43-50 per hour based on experience. Many factors are taken into consideration when determining compensation, such as experience, education, training, geography, etc. We comply with all minimum wage and overtime laws.
