Key Position Details:
- 1.0 FTE (80 hours every two-week pay period)
- 8 hour, day shifts
- No weekends or Holidays
- AHG Nursing Leadership position with a heavy emphasis on Nursing practice, Team leadership, and Strategic project leadership
- Team ( 25 staff) being led is a RN clinical practice educator team
- Position mostly works at their personal home remotely
- Regularly travel to clinics that the team supports
Job Description: Provides strategic leadership in the development and improvement of systems, nursing practice standards and processes that drive performance of clinical teams and patient care delivery structures within the Allina Health Group (AHG).
Implements evidence-based practice standards to achieve patient-centered care by working collaboratively with system departments, front line leaders and physicians to design workflows, education and training to ensure that quality measures, patient experience, and safe practice principles are applied to all strategic growth initiatives and program development in the AHG.
Integrates the Allina Health group with system partners to ensure development and application of consistent policies and education for clinical practice.
Leads and manages the clinical practice educator team and acts as a consultant for all AHG operational leaders regarding nursing practice.
Represents AHG nursing in system design of delivery of seamless efficient, safe, and compassionate patient care, develops and collaborates on operational workflows that supports optimal patient outcomes.
Principle Responsibilities
- Leadership
- Utilizes transformational leadership to inspire shared practice and professional nursing accountability.
- Serves as a mentor to all nursing leaders during onboarding and beyond.
- Identifies development needs and creates learning opportunities for AHG nursing leaders
- Oversees the clinical and continuing professional development of AHG nursing and clinical staff.
- Collaborates to leverage expertise, knowledge and evidence-based best practice across the Allina Health Group (AHG) to maximize resource utilization.
- Key leader that supports nursing practice and patient care services across the AHG to ensure alignment to organizational goals, culture, and business strategies
- Evaluates Nursing Practice & Oversees Clinical Practice Educator Program Management
- Assesses patterns of outcomes related to nursing practice, drawing conclusions that may require change, maintenance, or enhancement.
- Assesses learning needs and determines strategic development and implementation plan in collaboration with the Director of Nursing.
- Accountable for leading, developing, and implementing short- and long-range plans/programs that impact the delivery of ambulatory care nursing services, improve nursing practice, organizational performance, and healthy patient outcomes.
- Supports communication and education of nursing quality goals.
- Ensures a culture of collaboration between program management, clinical educator team and end users for input on development and implementation to assure clinical needs are met.
- Anchors nursing practice to evidence-based information to achieve outcomes.
- Mentors nurses and works collaboratively with nurses to develop new skills and apply research to practice with educational programs.
- Evaluates the effect of change on clinical outcomes, nursing and other personnel satisfaction, and the collaboration with other disciplines.
- Utilizes performance improvement principles to assess and improve the quality of service provided.
- Manages risk to organization by consulting on safety events reviews to create improvements to workflows, ongoing education of staff and system solutions when errors occur.
- Utilizes continuous process improvement principles to mentor the AHG Nursing leader group to identify waste, develop solutions, and implement change.
- Supports the Director of Nursing to ensure compliance with State Nurse Practice Acts, State Board of Nursing regulations, state and federal regulatory agency standards, federal labor standards, and organization policies.
- Operations
- Maintain an environment that promotes patient safety, high reliability of processes, and quality outcomes
- Leads team of Clinical Practice Educators who provide clinical education, facilitate nursing professional development and competency management of nursing and clinical teams
- Responsible for CPE resource allocation including budget/ hiring forecast and assignment to support system initiatives.
- Leads practice standardization, nursing innovation, quality improvement initiatives, and staffing model design.
- Develops and tests new educational programs and services that support workforce development and training.
- Informs quality measures of nursing practice and evaluates the plan and its progress related to the attainment of outcomes.
- Evidence Based Practice
- Researches, applies and holds team accountable to evidence-based practice across the AHG to ensure quality outcomes and nurse-sensitive indicator benchmarks are achieved based on internal and external benchmarks.
- Designs and collaborates on evidence-based protocols, workflows, and standards of patient care with key stakeholders and other subject matter experts.
- Integrates Nursing Informatics and ensures that the system meets the functional requirements of the ambulatory nurses and clinical team.
- Designs, organizes, and maintains Nursing Practice and MyPatientCareTools SharePoint sites or other technology resources in collaboration with clinical practice educators, knowledge-based specialist, and leaders
- Supports development and implementation of policies and procedures that guide and support nursing practice under the direction of the Director of Nursing.
- Overall responsibility for nursing policies and all policy activity in Compliance 360 for AHG.
- Develops and tests new educational programs that support nursing development
- Creates nursing training & clinical competencies in collaboration with Learning Development, Nursing Professional Development, and other stakeholders as appropriate.
- Nursing Workforce Models and Academic / Community Partnerships
- Develop and lead the Medical Assistant Apprentice Program to ensure a qualified internal medical assistant workforce
- Develop community partnerships with colleges of nursing and other allied health professional training programs, local nursing professional organizations, and community/public health organizations
- Represent Allina Health at state, local and national levels through involvement in professional associations and organizations. Supports and encourages similar involvement among nursing leaders.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing
- 4+ years of leadership experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Nursing
- Program and project management experience
Licenses/Certifications
- Licensed Registered Nurse - MN Board of Nursing required
- BLS Tier 1 - Basic Life Support - Multisource required

Pay Range
Pay Range: $55.24 to $76.43 per hour
The pay described reflects the base hiring pay range. Your starting rate would depend on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, your experience and education. Additional incentives may be available, including discretionary monetary bonuses, goal-based bonuses, and other financial incentives.
