The IT Risk Analyst Intern supports the Bank's Application Risk Management program by conducting technology risk assessments across the Bank's 550 applications. This role focuses on identifying inherent risk within applications and their data, evaluating control design, and testing control operating effectiveness.

The intern will work closely with IT application owners, IT infrastructure teams, and Business Unit stakeholders to understand application functionality and assess risks. The IT Risk Analyst Intern will assist with remediation planning and continuous improvement initiatives, contributing meaningful value to the Bank's overall risk management framework.

Key Responsibilities



  • Assist with the onboarding of new applications by partnering with Project Management and Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) teams to ensure secure practices are followed and implemented.
  • Conduct application risk assessments by gathering and analyzing information related to application functionality, data elements, architecture, and complexity.
  • Collaborate frequently with a wide range of IT and non-IT stakeholders to perform walkthroughs, gather evidence, and execute control testing.
  • Identify control gaps, risks, and issues, and work with key stakeholders to assess and support remediation plans.
  • Communicate assessment results, findings, and risk impacts to relevant stakeholders in coordination with the broader Application Risk Management team.
  • Participate in continuous improvement efforts to enhance the application risk assessment process and strengthen the overall risk management program.
  • Demonstrate a proactive mindset toward security awareness, education, and understanding of the Bank's IT and application environments.


Qualifications



  • Current college student, rising junior or senior preferred.
  • Ability to articulate and defend risk assessment processes, including control design evaluation and testing methodologies.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to develop thoughtful recommendations for control or process enhancements.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to evaluate controls and risks while also understanding broader business and technology impacts.
  • Ability to work effectively independently, within a team and across the organization.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to participate in-and occasionally lead-discussions with internal stakeholders.
  • Basic project and time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines in a structured environment.
