Position Overview:The Safety Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing comprehensive occupational health and safety programs across the organization to ensure compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Minnesota OSHA (MNOSHA), and all applicable environmental, health, and safety regulations. This role partners closely with executive leadership, facilities management, HR, and operations teams to foster a proactive safety culture, reduce risk, and protect employees, contractors, and company assets.
This is considered an essential onsite role, which requires regular onsite attendance.
Responsibilities:
Develop, implement, and continuously improve company-wide safety policies, procedures, and training programs Ensure compliance with OSHA, MNOSHA, and applicable local and state regulations Lead safety initiatives that align with corporate goals, operational needs, and industry best practices Promote a strong safety culture through leadership engagement, communication, and accountability Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments across all facilities Identify hazards and implement corrective and preventive actions Manage regulatory reporting, including OSHA logs (300/300A/301), incident tracking, and compliance documentation Lead investigations of workplace injuries, near misses, property damage, and serious incidents Determine root causes and develop corrective action plans Track and analyze incident trends and key performance indicators (KPIs) Assist HR with workers' compensation claims and return-to-work programs Develop and deliver safety training for employees, supervisors, and leadership Ensure required safety certifications and training records are maintained Communicate safety expectations clearly and consistently across all levels of the organization Support standups, safety meetings, new employee onboarding, and leadership safety walkthroughs Partner with operations, HR, legal, and risk management teams to integrate safety into business processes Provide guidance and coaching to supervisors and managers on safety responsibilities Support safety committees, corporate certification team, and cross-functional safety initiatives Lead the recruiting, training, supervising and job performance of safety team direct reports Seeking and providing feedback on employee safety suggestions and concerns May travel - domestically and internationally as needed|requested Other duties as assigned including but not limited to possible reallocation of efforts to other organizations per business need and management request
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
Associate's degree in safety management, occupational health, environmental health & safety, or similar area of study or equivalent, relevant work experience Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive safety or related experience in a large corporate or multi-site environment Strong working knowledge of OSHA and MNOSHA regulations Proven experience conducting safety audits, incident investigations, and compliance reporting Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills Must demonstrate the following behavioral competencies: Thorough understanding of DigiKey processes and procedures Strong presentation skills for a variety of audiences, including senior management Demonstrates a high level of confidentiality Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Ability to influence and lead without direct authority High level of integrity, professionalism, and attention to detail Proficiency with safety management systems, reporting tools, and Microsoft Office
Preferred Qualifications
10+ years of experience working in industrial safety Bachelor's degree in safety management, occupational health, environmental health & safety, or similar area of study or equivalent, relevant work experience Professional certification such as CSP (Certified Safety Professional), or ASP (Associate Safety Professional)
Experience in warehouse, manufacturing, or industrial operations Experience managing safety programs across multiple locations or states Familiarity with environmental compliance and risk management programs
Physical Requirements:
Generally, spends the workday walking/standing for up to entire shift with office work performed while sitting at workstation. Operates computer devices, such as, but not limited to keyboard, mouse, screen and performs repetitive motions that involve or affect the hands, head, and other parts of your body Ability to conduct site inspections in an industrial setting
Compensation:
The base pay range for this position is: $86,400
to $118,800
