POSITION SUMMARY: Under general direction is responsible for directing overall day-to-day operations for the Clinical Engineering Department. Such activities include but not limited to direct hands-on work of considerable technical difficulty; responsibility for the overall planning, management, budget maintenance, organization and performance of the department; provides clinical engineering consultation to clinical and administrative Health System leadership on the evaluation, selection and acquisition of biomedical instrumentation and disposable items necessary for patient care; serves in a leadership capacity on all Health System clinical departmental moves and related planning and design sessions; and performs related duties as required. JOB REQUIREMENTS EDUCATION:
. EXPERIENCE: Seven (7) years of full-time paid professional experience as a clinical or biomedical engineer. Experience preferred in an academic medical center or state or municipal hospital setting, two years of which must have been in a supervisory capacity. KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: Comprehensive knowledge of the principles and theories of biomedical engineering and biomedical instrumentation; of electro-medical equipment including the theory of operation and utilization; of the use of electronic and electrical testing and analyzers; of current products and technologies used in the health care delivery system. Comprehensive knowledge of medical terminology; of personnel, purchasing, budgetary practices and procedures; knowledge of standards, regulations, and safety requirements (such as OSHA, Joint Commission, FDA, AAMI, SMDA, CAP, ASA, etc.). Marked ability to develop and administer performance assurance and quality assurance programs; to supervise, assign and review work; to clinical engineering guidance in the selection and use of biomedical instrumentation; to prepare a variety of statistical and narrative reports and recommendations of a technical nature; to perform cost analysis studies; to communicate effectively orally and in writing; to negotiate contract terms with vendors; to interpret and measure performance service level agreements and compliance to such; to instruct Health System personnel in the use of equipment and provide didactic training on health care technologies. Demonstrates comprehensive skill in the use and repair of biomedical instrumentation. Compensation Range: $90,500.00- $131,500.00This range offers an estimate based on the minimum job qualifications.
