Your new team

This position sits in our Chivas Brothers business. At Chivas Brothers, our 1,600-strong team across 27 sites is committed to upholding the heritage of Scotch and ensuring its sustainable future, as well as opening it up to new audiences across the globe.

The scope of Operations stretches from Procurement through conversion (distillation and maturation) and manufacturing (or bottling) to all the downstream Supply Chain activities until the final product is delivered. In addition, Operations play a very active role in Innovation, Talent Development and Operational Risk Management.

The Health & Safety (H&S) team at Pernod Ricard are a team of 12 supporting our sites across the UK, including multiple distillation and maturation sites in Northern Scotland, our offices in London and Glasgow and our largest site in Dumbarton, where the Bottling and Distribution of our products is carried out. The team focus on driving a culture of proactive health and safety, empowering our people and embedding continual improvement into daily operations.

Your unique contribution

As a key member of our Distillation & Maturation Leadership Team this position will develop and implement a Distillation & Maturation Health and Safety Roadmap to drive improvements in our safety performance and ensure all necessary compliance through the management of a team of Health and Safety professionals and the engagement of all employees across our Distillation & Maturation operations.

You will have six main areas of responsibility:

Strategic Partnering & Engagement:

  • Being a trusted partner to site leaders, working shoulder-to-shoulder to build environments where safety is second nature and people feel empowered to speak up, step in, and shape solutions.
  • Helping shape a culture where health and safety is seen as a tool for success, not a barrier to progress - enabling good work, rather than getting in the way of it.
  • Scanning the horizon - keeping us ahead of regulatory change, emerging risks and evolving best practices - and helping us lead, not just follow.

People Leadership:

  • You'll lead and support the safety advisors in your region - helping them grow in confidence, develop their skills, and stay connected to the purpose behind the work.
  • It's about building a team that feels trusted, supported, and proud of the difference they make.

Cultural Maturity:

  • Breathing life into our health and safety framework - building on the solid foundations already in place, and shaping a roadmap that's simple, human, and focused on what really matters.
  • Creating a culture of shared ownership, where safety isn't something 'we do to people', but something that lives in every role, every decision, and every conversation.

Standards & Systems:

  • Supporting high-hazard risk and COMAH compliance - not just through documentation, but through real conversations, real checks, and real leadership.
  • Oversee the operational development and deployment of our management system and software platforms to ensure an industry leading approach.
  • You'll play a key role in how we manage and work with contractors - setting clear expectations, building strong relationships, and making sure safety isn't just handed over, but truly shared.

Change Management:

  • Driving proactive engagement in site changes and developments, ensuring health and safety thinking is embedded early - from automation to site reshaping.

Training & Development:

  • Helping our teams move from lagging indicators to learning insights, using data and real-world experience to guide improvements and build foresight.
  • Building capability at every level, coaching others to think critically about risk, care deeply about their teams, and feel proud of the role they play in keeping each other safe.
  • Championing learning over blame, leading investigations that focus on understanding, improvement and trust.

Who you'll be working with

Internally, you'll collaborate across functions - connecting with operations, HR, engineering, building management, security and more - to make safety part of how we plan, build and deliver the future of our business. You will also collaborate with colleagues across the Pernod Ricard group, particularly at HQ.

Externally, you will collaborate with the Health and Safety Executive, as well as other external regulatory bodies, trade associations, emergency services, local authorities, professional bodies and our vendors/ suppliers/contractors. You will be the face of Pernod Ricard and ensure delivery of a best-in-class Health & Safety service for the business.

Your blend of talent

This position could be right for you if you:

  • Bring genuine care for people and a belief that safety is about enabling good work.
  • Have Professional Health and Safety qualifications (i.e. NEBOSH) and have experience in developing and implementing health and safety management systems, policies, and procedures.
  • Have proven experience in a similar health and safety role with responsibility across multiple sites, working independently to manage competing priorities and build and develop a high performing team.
