Position Overview

Position Summary

Under the general direction of the Director of Broadcasting, the Development/Promotion Director oversees membership/underwriting fundraising efforts and is responsible for promoting KENW-TV.


Requirements

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide exceptional customer service in all interactions with students, staff, and the general public
  • Plan, coordinate, and conduct fundraising drives for KENW-TV
  • Supervise the mailing of receipts and premiums to donors and underwriters
  • Respond to questions and requests from viewers, donors, and underwriters
  • Coordinate promotional efforts for the station in print, on-air, on the web, and on social media.
  • Seek underwriting support from businesses and foundations
  • Plan and execute measures to attract major donors to the station
  • Schedule on-air promotion and underwriting announcements in the ProTrack scheduling system
  • Coordinate and place promotional materials on the station website
  • Coordinate with the Program Director and Operations Director during fundraising drives to ensure that programming, development, operations, and promotion come together to produce the most successful results possible
  • Keep up to date with the FCC and PBS rules dealing with underwriting announcements
  • Assist as needed in planning, designing, and preparing the monthly program guide
  • Regular and predictable attendance is required
  • Perform related duties as assigned

Minimum Job Requirements:

Bachelor's Degree in broadcasting or a related field, or equivalent experience in broadcasting and/or fundraising.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of University policies and procedures and structures
  • Computer literacy, including programs such as Photoshop, Office, and PageMaker
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • The ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community
  • Ability to maintain friendly customer service and professional demeanor with all constituencies
  • Project coordination and organizational skills, and the ability to work as a team player
  • Ability to present a professional, pleasant, and cooperative attitude in coordinating communication between staff and the general public

Working Conditions

Physical Demand and Working Conditions:

  • Work is generally performed during normal work hours. However, fundraising activities sometimes require weekend and evening work
  • Work is sedentary in nature and at times requires exerting up to10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a consistent amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
  • Essential functions include reaching, handling, fine motor skills, verbal communication, auditory perception and visual acuity.
