Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Financial Analyst for the department of Medicine at the New Jersey Medical School.

Under the direction of the Senior Director of Administration and Finance Manager provides support with the day-to-day management of all fiscal operations of the department. Provide financial support with pre- and post-awards including grants, contracts, and various budget and finance functions on restricted and nonrestricted accounts. Assists with short- and long-term planning and assists with financial projections and analysis. Develops and analyzes fiscal and administrative data.

Among the key duties of this position are the following:

  • Analyzes clinical and financial data, preparing comprehensive financial and administrative reports for internal and external use.
  • Responsible for departmental administration for pre- and post-award grant activities, collaborating with faculty on proposal submissions. Guides faculty through the application process by planning and scheduling activities, developing accurate project budgets, and ensuring timely submission to the Office for Research.
  • Assists the Senior Director of Administration and Finance Manager in developing and submitting the annual budget for the academic, research, and clinical mission areas of the department.
  • Analyzes financial information to determine present and future financial performance.
  • Identifies trends and recommends improvements accordingly.

Qualifications






Minimum Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or related field plus three (3) years preferred financial experience in a business office, preferably at a medical center or institution of higher education.
  • Experience with MS Office (including Power Query, pivot tables, and data modeling) required.
  • Applicants who do not have the degree may substitute equivalent education, experience, and/or training for the requirements on a year for year basis.

  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills required. Strong organizational and financial skills required. Must have the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
