About the Job

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

This position is in a laboratory involved in defining the pathologic mechanisms and
therapies for Alzheimer's Disease (AD) and Parkinson's Disease (PD) using cellular and
transgenic mouse models. The candidate will assist the Principal Investigator/Postdoctoral Scientists/Graduate Students/Technicians by performing bioinformatic analysis of transcriptomic, proteomic, and quantitative neuropathological data.

(75% effort) Bioinformatic analysis of transcriptomic and proteomic data. Person will
work with bioinformatic analyst from MSI, currently Dr. Ying Zhang, to perform bioinformatic processing of transcriptomic data generated by the lab and from public data bases. The analysis will include cell identification, differential gene expression, and pathway analysis. These will be accomplished using R- or Python based programs.

(20% effort) Isolation of nuclei for single nuclear RNA seq analysis. The person will be
trained on isolation of nuclei from frozen brain to be used for single nuclear RNA seq.

(5% effort) General Laboratory: Duties will include preparation for lab meetings and other
general laboratory duties such as stocking of material and cleaning of laboratory
areas.

Qualifications

All required qualifications must be included in the application materials

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or a combination of education and relevant work experience to equal at least four years
A background in bioinformatic and/or biostatistical analysis.

Preferred Qualifications:
Familiarity with the Neurological Diseases or analysis of transcriptomic data.

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $23.84/hour
