StandardAero is excited to announce our Engine Mechanic Internship opportunity at our Business Aviation MRO facility in Houston, TX (IAH). This Internship will be a 12-week program, beginning in March through the end of May 2026. This program is designed for students who are passionate about aviation and are looking to gain hands-on experience while working towards their FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) License. What You Will Do:

  • Learn to perform routine maintenance and assist with major inspections on TFE731 and CFE738 turbofan engines.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and modify turbofan engines and APUs.
  • Perform routine servicing tasks on engine components.
  • Familiarize yourself with materials processes and procedures.
  • Observe and adhere to all safety, environmental, and general housekeeping rules and policies.
  • Perform other duties as required by the department.

Basic Requirements:

  • Qualified Applicants must be a current student at UTI or AIM (Houston locations only) and meet the following criteria:
    • Maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
    • Have no more than 10% absenteeism during each 5-week session.
    • Graduating between June 1st - December 31st, 2026.
    • Must be working towards a valid FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) License and able to obtain it within three months of graduation.
  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be available to work a minimum of 20 hours per week.
    • Minimum of 4 hours/day, Monday through Friday), with shifts scheduled between 7:00 AM and 2:00 PM.
    • Maximum of 30 hours per week permitted during internship.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
  • Must be willing to submit to background/ drug screening requirements to meet airport security badging standards.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Stand for a minimum of 4 hours per day and walk long distances.
  • Bend, stretch, crawl, and climb ladders to access difficult areas within the aircraft.
  • Work outdoors in extreme temperatures and inclement weather.
  • See and hear well enough to detect problems, disassemble/inspect components, and communicate effectively.
  • Excellent hand-to-eye coordination and dexterity to manipulate tools, equipment, and keyboards.
