Summary/Objective:

Effectively lead the Chassis Engineering team to ensure the successful execution of the core and peripheral functions.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Essential Functions:

  1. Lead engineering department and processing documents for all fabrication.
  2. Overseeing programming of all machinery.
  3. New SKU creation, routes, and BOMs.
  4. Training the programming team on all aspects of new and existing machinery.

Other Key Responsibilities

  1. Recruit and onboard new team members
  2. Oversee a 30+ member team
  3. Directly manage 4-6 Team Leaders
  4. Develop current and potential team leaders to become more effective at their current or future roles
  5. Communicate/cooperate with Operations on product or process improvement initiatives
  6. Communicate/cooperate with Sales to effectively field requests or complications from OEMs
  7. Communicate/cooperate with OEMs to effectively field requests or complications
  8. Uphold, develop and implement Engineering standards and practices to maintain and/or further the advancement of the Engineering department though how it operates or the product it manages
  9. Oversee and assist in team member engagement strategies
  10. Advocate on behalf of team members by securing adequate resources for success

Working Conditions:

  • Primarily working indoors, office environment.
  • May sit for several hours at a time.
  • Prolonged exposure to computer screens.
  • Repetitive use of hands to operate computers, printers, and copiers.
  • Travel to customer or other Lippert facilities may be required
  • Floor time at customers or other Lippert facilities may be required which may include walking, kneeling, crouching, sitting, standing

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Engineering
  2. Auto CAD
  3. SolidWorks
  4. Sigmanest
  5. Robowave
  6. Lantek
  7. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications

Competencies:

  1. Must be able to work as a part of a team to achieve the company's overall goals.
  2. Ability to work with and apply mathematical concepts.
  3. Ensure all SKUs are programmed for all machinery.
  4. Responsible for all training within the department.
  5. Ensure that all machines are programmed in a timely manner.
  6. Delegate the workload between team members.

Supervisory Responsibility:

  1. Act as a leader of the group, but also perform similar work.
  2. Supervise: assign work to be done, methods used and take responsibility for all of the group's work.

While performing the duties of this job, the team member is regularly required to talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time position, and the expected work hours are 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday; weekend and overnight work could also become necessary.

Travel:

Travel will be minimal and would be primarily local during the business day

Preferred Education and Experience:

  1. Proven Leadership experience in a similar industry
  2. Public speaking ability
  3. Strong organization and time management skills
