Job Summary

Designs, develops, implements and oversees the organization's environmental, health and safety programs and procedures to safeguard employees and surrounding communities and to ensure that all facilities are in compliance with regulations | Responsibilities are within the Environmental Health and Safety Function as a generalist or in a combination of Disciplines

Functional Leadership
  • Determines professional/ technical approaches and strategies for own function
  • Develops policies and procedures for own function, in line with overall organization strategy
  • Has responsibility for the function and reports to the site/ SBU head (and/ or to a Home Office functional leader).


Essential Functions

  • Designs, develops, implements and oversees the organization's environmental, health and safety programs and procedures to safeguard employees and surrounding communities.
  • Administers policies and procedures that cover two or more functional areas in the environmental, health and safety job family.
  • Ensures employees in functional areas follow established procedures and comply with federal, state and local regulations.
  • Provides and presents environmental, health and safety metrics to senior leadership.



Required Qualifications

  • Required education and experience: Associate's Degree and 10-12 years' experience OR Equivalent Combination of Relevant Education &/or Experience
  • Critical professional related technical skills; computer skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)


Preferred Qualifications

  • Preferred education and experience: Bachelor's Degree
  • Discipline/Major: Business or Environmental, Health and Safety degree preferred
  • Knowledge, skills & abilities: Safety best practices. Safety communications. Safety inspections. Safety investigations. Safety policies and procedures. Safety training. Inspection documentation.


Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods of time.
  • Requires regular movement throughout GD-OTS facilities.
  • Work primarily in a climate-controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential.


Travel Requirements

Up to 25% travel likely.
