We are seeking an Orion Mission Integration Engineer to support our Orion contract.



Responsibilities

The Orion Mission Integration Engineer will:

    Manage the Orion Flight Test Objectives (FTO) and Development
  • Manage the Orion Flight Test Objectives (FTO) and Development Flight Test Objectives (DFTO) process and documentation for the Orion program
  • Provide pre-flight technical support for cross program data dependencies and post-flight products
  • Manage the Data Analysis Plan (DAP) and lead the integration of the Post Flight Analysis Report (PFAR)
  • Maintain oversight on the allocation of Development Flight Instrumentation (DFI) to each discipline in support of the baselined FTOs for each mission. Monitor the health and status of the DFI sensors through channelization and peripheral hardware since failures impact the ability to fully meet FTOs
  • Provide supplemental real-time support during the mission from the Orion Mission Evaluation Room (MER)
  • Provide technical expertise and give technical presentations in major project milestones, boards, and panels
  • Establish working relationships with NASA leads, system managers, commercial teammates, and international partners to lead systems integration activities
  • Support transition of the Orion program from a development program into a sustaining program via implementing process improvements
  • Apply systems engineering principles to define multidisciplinary requirements and perform product development and integration, leveraging subsystem manager expertise and integrating into final products presented to NASA management
  • Utilize understanding of the NASA human spaceflight program life cycle to establish and support Orion system integration activities.
  • Incorporate process improvement initiatives that promote the progression of SE&I expertise within a more digitized SE&I environment
  • Perform other duties as required


Qualifications

This position is posted at multiple levels. Depending on the candidate's experience, position requirements and business needs, we reserve the right to consider candidates at any level for which this position has been advertised.

Required Education/Experience/Skills:

  • BS Degree in Engineering from an accredited Engineering school, plus five (5) years of appropriate work experience

OR

  • BS Degree in Engineering from an accredited Engineering school, plus ten (10) years of appropriate work experience
  • Working experience with Human Space Exploration programs (Gateway, ISS, Orion, etc.)
  • Applied knowledge of product life cycle development, sound systems engineering & integration principles, and strong working knowledge of associated engineering disciplines
  • Applied working knowledge of systems engineering practices associated with the definition, design, development, verification, implementation, testing, integration, and validation of complex systems
  • Excellent communication skills (in both written and verbal), integration, coordination and presentation skills.
    Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with customers and stakeholders
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint)

Preferred Education/Experience/Skills:

  • Experience with FTO and DFTO end-to-end process life cycle
  • Project management or other leadership experience
  • INCOSE System Engineering Professional Certification.
  • Master of Science degree in Systems Engineering or equivalent engineering
  • Knowledge of systems, tools, or initiatives that promote the digitization of the systems engineering discipline, such as requirements management software (DOORS, DNG, JAMA, etc.), workflow management software (JIRA, Confluence, etc.), model based systems engineering software (Cameo, MagicDraw, etc.), or other digital tools (SharePoint, Confluence, etc.)
  • Experience with innovation or process improvements projects and initiatives
  • Ability to independently manage multiple tasks concurrently
  • Familiarity with aerospace flight operations and other spaceflight environments

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and successfully complete a U.S. government background investigation

  • Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is critical
  • Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements when required
  • Must be able to work in a team atmosphere
  • Must put forward a professional behavior that enhances productivity and promotes teamwork and cooperation
  • Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others
  • This position may require some commuting and traveling to other installations as needed
