Job Description:

Baptist Health is looking for a Lead CDI Specialist to join their team. This is a remote work position that requires residency in KY or IN

Lead CDI Specialist expands on the Facility CDI Specialist role to include reporting and data analysis forfacilities and / or service lines. Additional focus on provider interaction during formal and informaleducational sessions including participation in the creation of educational content for several assignedservice lines. The Lead CDI specialist is responsible for ensuring efficiency and productivity of the
processes and workflows within the CDI team, participating in orientation of new staff, reporting any issuesto the Regional Manager or CDI Director. The lead CDI specialist displays leadership skills and is involvedin committees / projects as indicated.

Essential Duties:

  • Accurately interprets clinical information in the medical record, evaluates medications, treatments,clinical indicators, and other key data elements to identify documented and potential diagnoses.

  • Performs concurrent and retrospective reviews of inpatient admissions for assignment of MS andAPR DRG, principal and secondary diagnoses, and procedure codes.

  • Assigns severity of illness and risk of mortality.

  • Actively participates in the development, implementation, and evaluation of unit/organizationalprograms.

  • Engages, both verbally and in writing, with physicians or other advanced practice providers toimprove clinical documentation to validate the diagnoses and procedures documented within themedical record.

  • Identifies potential opportunities to improve clinical documentation through provider query.

  • Submits CDI queries following the most current AHIMA/ACDIS, "Guidelines for Achieving aCompliant Query Practice."

  • Prioritize and performs second level reviews for Quality cohorts or as requested by staff orleadership.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree with 3 years acute healthcare nursing experience including one year of clinical documentation integrityexperience.

  • In lieu of bachelor's degree, associate degree in nursing with five years acute healthcare experience includingone-year clinical documentation integrity experience.

  • Knowledge of ICD10-CM coding principles and procedures, DRG assignment.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, dataentry and data retrieval systems, Encoder, and internet.

  • Kentucky or Indiana Licensure as a Registered Nurse, CCDS and/or CDIP, and ACDIS or AHIMA member
