THE POSITION

If so, considering joining the Pennsylvania Department of Education, State Board of Higher Education (SBHE) as an Administrative Officer 1. This position gives you the opportunity to utilize your background to ensure efficient board operations and provide logistical planning and support to SBHE leadership for meetings and related events. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As an Administrative Officer 1, you will be providing administrative leadership and support by performing a wide range of ongoing assignments associated with the operational and accounting responsibilities within SBHE. Work involves analyzing, organizing, and implementing administrative operations; as well as overseeing all reporting requirements for the board and its executive office programs. You will also serve as the Fiscal Officer and administrator, providing essential support to ensure paper and electronic budget documents for the office, such as contracts, grant documents, purchase orders, and memos of understanding are accurate before submitting for office and department approval. You will have the opportunity to act as the first point of contact, handling calls from the field and contacting professional staff.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 2 days per week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years of experience in varied office management or staff work; and bachelor's degree; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training.

Other Requirements:

  • This particular position also requires possession of one or more years of full-time professional experience providing administrative assistance to senior level executives or stakeholders, such as individuals at the Secretary or Deputy Secretary level, Board members, or others at the executive leadership level.

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
