Job Summary
The Safety Specialist supports the Safety Supervisor by ensuring daily compliance with onsite safety policies and procedures. This role conducts field-level inspections, monitors work activities, and reinforces safe practices among personnel. The Safety Specialist assists with safety documentation, incident response, emergency preparedness efforts, and acts as a key resource in identifying and mitigating hazards to maintain a safe working environment. Job Responsibilities
Assist with site safety inspections and compliance checks.
Monitor work areas for hazards, unsafe conditions, and potential violations.
Support verification of proper PPE use and overall safety compliance.
Track safety observations, audits, training records, and related documentation.
Assist in preparing safety reports, incident documentation, and compliance forms.
Maintain organized safety-related paperwork and documentation systems.
Support incident investigations by gathering witness statements and submitting required reports.
Track near misses and safety violations, escalating issues to the Safety Supervisor.
Attend and support safety meetings, toolbox talks, and orientations.
Reinforce safe work practices through regular field engagement with crews.
Assist with the distribution of safety materials and PPE.
Support emergency drills, response planning, and associated training activities.
Ensure emergency equipment and first aid supplies are stocked and accessible.
Assist in training workers on emergency response and evacuation procedures.
Job Requirements
Experience in field safety support, construction safety, or related environment preferred.
Strong understanding of basic safety principles, PPE requirements, and hazard recognition.
Ability to communicate effectively with workers, supervisors, and safety leadership.
Ability to maintain accurate documentation and follow established safety procedures.
Strong organizational and observational skills with attention to detail.
Ability to walk, stand, and move throughout job sites for extended periods.
Ability to support incident response activities and assist with emergency preparedness tasks.
