Position Summary

The
School of Medicine (SOM) Dean's Finance Office is seeking a highly skilled Accountant
3
to
support the School of Medicine Research & Education Office (SOMREO). This position:

  • Monitors the business activities of the organization through the maintenance and control of financial records.
  • Performs advanced accounting functions in the management of the organization's business affairs.
  • Prepares integrated financial and statistical reports, statements, projections, and recommendations that may have long-term impact on funding for the organization.
  • Supervises the activities of staff within a business unit, as appropriate to the position.

Conditions of Employment

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and successful completion of at least 15 credit hours of university-level accounting through intermediate accounting; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.



Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience using automated financial accounting/information
    systems such as Banner, UNM policies and procedures, and other UNM systems for
    accounting applications.
  • Ability to demonstrate strong organizational skills,
    analytical skills, and communication skills.
  • Experience in annual budget development, analysis, and
    presentation.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office tools: Excel,
    Word, Access, or similar tool to analyze/interpret financial data.
  • Experience in providing guidance and support to faculty and
    staff regarding accounting related issues and UNM policies and procedures.
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to
    prioritize projects and deadlines.
