DETAILED JOB DESCRIPTION
  1. Assist in developing and managing department budgets with physician partners, finance, and leadership. Help monitor and control expenditures to stay within budget and use resources efficiently.
  2. Support ensuring appropriate 24-hour staffing based on patient acuity and staff skills, addressing the diverse needs of the patient population.
  3. Apply research and evidence-based practices to support process improvements and assist in the Shared Governance model to enhance care delivery and outcomes.
  4. Help foster a culture where staff are accountable for implementing policies and providing excellent patient-centered care.
  5. Assist in interviewing, hiring, and onboarding new staff. Support performance evaluations, recommend promotions, and handle disciplinary actions as needed. Regularly assess staff competency and provide coaching for development.
  6. Help maintain care standards according to regulatory and professional guidelines, ensuring staff compliance with accrediting bodies and legal requirements.
  7. Work to enhance satisfaction for both internal and external customers by addressing and resolving patient and family concerns effectively.
  8. Assist in evaluating clinical practice quality and effectiveness using internal and external data to identify improvement opportunities, collaborating with key stakeholders.
  9. Support the development and monitoring of systems to achieve and maintain expected metrics and outcomes, including patient and employee satisfaction, financial performance, and quality measures.
  10. Maintain clinical nursing competencies for assigned areas of responsibility.
  11. Manage the development, coordination, and maintenance of daily staffing schedules to ensure the appropriate level of coverage and continuity of care.
  12. Monitor and oversee time and attendance in alignment with MU Health Care policies and practices, ensuring accuracy of records and timely approval for payroll purposes.
  13. May complete unit/department-specific duties as outlined in department documents.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Missouri Board of Nursing RN or Nurse Licensure Compact multi-state RN. When primary state of residency changes, compact state RNs must apply under new state of residency within thirty (30) days.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree.
  • Three (3) years of RN experience in a hospital setting.
  • One (1) year of managerial or supervisory experience, to include charge nursing.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master's degree in a business, healthcare, or a related field.

  • Additional license/certification requirements as determined by the hiring department.
