The Opportunity The Quality Control Engineeer addresses and resolves quality issues through timely response and appropriate actions which meet the customers' requirements and/or exceed the customers' expectations. This role may travel to the field to resolve customer/vendor quality issues. This role also identifies opportunities to prevent quality/defect recurrence by assisting with resolutions within the ABD SAFEGATE and its supply chain or through engineering design improvements. - Act as the frontline investigator for production and field quality issues: collect data, replicate failures, perform hands on testing and inspection, and lead containment and corrective action.
- Own root cause analysis activities (5 Why, Fishbone, Fault Tree, 8D as required) and drive corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to closure with verification of effectiveness.
- Work side by side with production associates to identify nonconformance, implement containment and train operators to prevent recurrence.
- Establish, perform, and improve incoming inspection procedures; receive and disposition nonconforming incoming materials
- Maintain and control calibration records for inspection/test equipment and ensure measurement traceability.
- Collect and analyze quality data (defect rates, scrap/rework, yield, process capability); generate actionable reports and present trends to stakeholders.
- Lead or participate in productivity and quality improvement projects (DOE, Kaizen, Lean, SPC), and support engineering design improvements to enhance manufacturability and robustness.
- Support internal and external audits as required.
The talent we want to inspire has...
- BS in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, or related) or equivalent experience with minimum 3 years of hands on manufacturing Quality experience (in line production support, troubleshooting, or test engineering).
- Demonstrated experience performing root cause analysis and driving CAPA to completion.
- Proficient in data analysis and statistical methods (SPC, capability studies, Gage R&R). Experience with DOE/Minitab an advantage.
- Working knowledge of ISO9001 quality systems (required); experience with AS9100 or IATF 16949 is a plus.
- Able to read and interpret engineering drawings, assembly drawings, and process documents.
- Strong working knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook); familiarity with quality management systems / ERP/QMS software desirable.
- Comfortable working on the production floor, hands on troubleshooting of electrical/mechanical assemblies, and traveling to customer sites when needed.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to write clear nonconformance reports and present findings to cross functional teams.

- Practical, investigative mindset with persistence to follow problems to root cause.
- Strong interpersonal skills; coachable and able to give clear explanations to production staff.
- Experience in aviation, defense, or automotive a plus.
