Overview
The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Utah State University (USU) invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level. The position will be located on the main Logan campus with an estimated start date of August 2026. Candidates should have a PhD in chemistry, or a closely related field, and research interests in an area broadly related to advanced energy sources and storage. The successful candidate is expected to engage with USU's new Energy Engineering Program (https://engineering.usu.edu/news/main-feed/2024/energizing-utah). Application review will begin on December 1, 2025 and continue until the position is filled.

Responsibilities
This is a full-time, nine-month (academic year) appointment with a 50/40/10 division of effort between research, teaching, and service. The successful candidate will be expected to (i) develop an innovative, externally funded research program that achieves a strong national reputation for excellence; (ii) demonstrate a strong commitment to undergraduate and graduate teaching in a range of chemistry courses; (iii) engage effectively in Departmental, College, University, and/or External service.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
  • PhD in chemistry or a closely related field.
  • Demonstrated excellence in research (e.g., as evidenced by peer-reviewed publications) together with clear potential for significant and
    sustained future contributions in research and teaching.

Preferred Qualifications
  • PhD or post-doctoral research experience in an energy-related field.
  • A strong track record of scholarly publications.
  • Evidence of effective teaching or mentoring.

The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry (http://www.chem.usu.edu/) is ACS accredited and offers BS, MS, and PhD degrees in Chemistry and in Biochemistry.
