DESCRIPTION Under general supervision, performs waived, moderate, and high complexity testing; evaluates test results; performs and evaluates quality control procedures; performs preventive maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting. Provides laboratory services in a timely manner and consistently delivers excellent customer service. Serves as a technical resource for customers and other staff. Adheres to all safety policies. Performs other related CLS functions as required. Depending on experience of the selected candidate, this position will be hired at the CLS or CLS Specialist level. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Graduation from college with a major in a relevant field. Must have a current Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) or appropriate sub-specialty license issued by the State of California, Department of Public Health. Knowledge and abilities essential to the successful performance of duties assigned to the position. Less than two (2) years experience qualifies as CLS level; two (2+) plus years of experience qualifies as CLS Specialist. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Previous relevant experience. At least two years of applicable clinical laboratory experience. Molecular Microbiology experience. SPECIAL CONDITIONS Must be able to work all shifts, week-ends, holidays, overtime and at various locations as necessary in accordance with operational needs. Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical. The Clinical Lab Scientist position is compensated at $56.13 per hour. The Clinical Lab Scientist, Specialist position is compensated at $73.53 per hour. Pay Transparency Act Annual Full Pay Range: $153,531 - $153,531 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%) Hourly Equivalent: $73.53 - $73.53 Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
