Founded in 1953, Hudson Valley Community College (HVCC) located in scenic Upstate NY is a multi-campus College with locations in Troy and Malta New York. HVCC offers more than 80 degree and certificate programs in three schools: Business and Liberal Arts; Health Sciences; and Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM). Hudson Valley is one of 30 community colleges in the State University of New York (SUNY) system and serves nearly 9,000 students each year. In order to be considered an applicant for this position you must meet the minimum qualifications as stated in this announcement. HVCC does not support Visas. Applicants must currently hold an unrestricted employment authorization to work in the United States and appointment will be contingent upon completion of a background check.

Minimum Qualifications: Master's Degree in Educational Psychology, School Counseling, Social or Behavioral Sciences, Library and Information Science, or related field from an accredited college or university and more than three (3) years of experience working in a post-secondary campus student support services office; excellent interpersonal skills. Supervisory and budget experience, as well as knowledge of library services and operations is preferred.

Nature and Scope of Duties:
The Director reports to the Dean of the Learning Commons and/or their designee and performs the following duties:

1. Helps supervise all staff and faculty within the Learning Commons (Center for Academic Engagement, Learning Centers and the Library) to maintain services and daily operations.

2. Coordinates a comprehensive and dynamic network of academic support services through the Learning Commons for students taking traditional on and off-site courses and those taking hybrid and online courses.

3. Assists with managing and developing a master work schedule that assures appropriate support and coverage for all areas.

4. Assists the Dean in maintaining the Learning Commons budget, including approving payroll.

5. Maintains relationships with academic departments and student service offices to offer support and encourage referrals.

6. Represents the Learning Commons at various campus events and presents on Learning Commons services throughout the year as needed. May include evening and weekend events.

7. Helps to represent the Learning Commons on College committees and planning meetings, when appropriate.

8. Assists the Dean in making sure referrals are up-to-date and maintaining Learning Commons use data for the County Chargeback process.

9. Markets programs and services designed to enhance student academic achievement and retention.

10. Works closely with academic department chairs and student services offices to stay informed about programs, activities, and events designed to help students overcome personal and academic challenges.

11. Keeps current with trends and practices, implements, incorporates and updates existing programs and activities.

12. Reports on program services and assessment data related to all services.

13. Provides data and reports based on student outcomes and usage to the Dean as requested.

14. Performs other duties as assigned.

This is a 12-month, Full-Time position with a salary range of $70,000-$80,000.
