Description

Responsible for placing safety as #1 priority in day-to-day work routine for self and others. Responsible for daily and monthly energy checkouts using internal processes and performing checkout processes with external entities. Responsible for tracking Montana-Dakota Utilities' day-to-day activities relating to generation and load entered into the Midcontinent Independent System Operator ("MISO") and Southwest Power Pool (SPP) energy markets. Complete monthly, quarterly and annual reports relating to energy accounting and the wholesale electric market.







MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Electric Market Settlement Analyst I: ($73,460 - $91,830 per year)




  • Must possess a working knowledge of accounting theory and financial concepts at a level normally acquired through the completion of a four-year degree in business, economics, finance, accounting, or related field; and



  • One years' experience in utility or energy marketing or related functions.




Electric Market Settlement Analyst II: ($84,460 - $105,570 per year)




  • Must possess a working knowledge of accounting theory and financial concepts at a level normally acquired through the completion of a four-year degree in business, economics, finance, accounting, or related field; and



  • Four years' experience in utility or energy marketing or related functions.




OTHER REQUIREMENTS:


  • Must take all measures necessary to protect networks, devices, programs and data from cyber-attack, damage or unauthorized access.
  • May be required to maintain a valid driver's license.
  • Due to the need for unescorted access to security sensitive business locations and/or systems, must submit to periodic background checks.
  • Subject to Pre-employment Drug Testing Policy and Background Check.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States, no sponsorships considered.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Knowledge of Locational Marginal Pricing energy market concepts.


JOB REQUIREMENTS:


  • Retrieve data from external entities, MISO, SPP, WAPA, Black Hills, OTP, etc. and complete balancing procedures daily.
  • Compare settlement estimates to MISO/SPP settlement statements to identify and resolve discrepancies. Submit settlement disputes to the appropriate entity as needed.
  • Verify accuracy and approve for payment of invoices for power market entities as appropriate.
  • Monitor and manage metered power flow data from various billing and data sources. Submit accurate meter data to the appropriate entity in accordance with applicable tariff and protocols.
  • Verify consistency of wholesale market data and operational energy data in the EMS.
  • Perform other tasks and special projects as assigned.
