The American Red Cross is seeking a Director of Corporate Development to support the Missouri and Arkansas Region (MOAR). This is a hybrid position. Incumbents will spend several days a week in the office and the remainder of their time in the field or in a home office.

In this role, you will partner with the Chief Development Officer to lead a team of professional fundraisers in strengthening and growing the region's donor base to meet its assigned financial target. The Director of Development will provide leadership to the staff and volunteers in planning, managing, and implementing fundraising development strategies for the Corporate segment of giving. They will also assist in the cultivation of donors and sponsors to meet monthly, quarterly, and annual revenue targets while maintaining their own portfolios. The Director is responsible for managing an assigned team including hiring, training, coaching, evaluating, and managing performance. This role is not eligible for relocation assistance.

WHERE YOUR CAREER IS A FORCE GOOD:

  • Manage a portfolio of high-level corporate donors and prospects within the assigned segment to achieve the annual revenue target, including both renewable gifts and new incremental revenue.

  • Hire, manage, train, and evaluate staff and volunteers to ensure fundraising results and that all team members meet or exceed national/regional fundraising metrics

  • Serve as a senior leader in the Region and proactively drive the implementation of strategic decisions for the organization. Ensure that the Region meets all reporting requirements related to fundraising, including ensuring up-to-date donor records in Salesforce.

  • Develop and implement a plan for revenue growth from donors at the $5,000+ level with an emphasis on maximizing revenue for the American Red Cross. The corporate segment's strategic growth plan could include (but is not limited to) engagement and growth of Corporate Giving Tiers such as R365 and ADGP. Serving as a staff liaison to the Board's Philanthropy Committee and developing and implementing strategies for board giving and influence for the region, growing cause marketing and overall corporate revenue by assisting corporations in achieving their goals to strengthen their brand, marketing, and employee engagement, leading the region's special events program, or leading a strategy to identify, cultivate, and engage corporate foundations to grow their support for the American Red Cross.

  • Cultivate relationships and serve as primary staff liaison for major donors and conduct regular joint visits with relationship managers and donors when those relationships are managed by members of your team.

  • Collaborate with national headquarters development team members to maximize fundraising opportunities and implement policies and procedures to ensure the success of the region's fundraising efforts.

  • Provide strong leadership, develop individual and team performance goals, and manage/drive change..

  • Lead and execute disaster relief fundraising efforts as appropriate.

3. Accelerate Revenue Growth and Corporate Engagement Champion the development and execution of a robust growth plan targeting donors at the $5,000+ level. Spearhead initiatives to increase recurring donations, focusing on high-potential corporations. Collaborate with corporate leaders to enhance their brand, marketing, and employee engagement while aligning with the American Red Cross mission. Provide leadership to the Philanthropy Committee, and use your influence to strengthen board involvement with corporate partners.

4. Forge Powerful New Partnerships Be the visionary behind cultivating fresh, strategic relationships that inspire deep connections with the American Red Cross mission. Lead joint visits with donors and partners, and collaborate with regional and national colleagues to unlock new fundraising opportunities that fuel the success of the region.

5. Champion Strategic Fundraising Campaigns Partner closely with the Chief Development Officer to execute cross-segment strategies and campaigns. As a senior leader, proactively drive key organizational decisions, ensuring campaigns are flawlessly executed and that all reporting requirements are met. Leverage tools like Salesforce to keep donor records current and insightful.

6. Lead, Empower, and Inspire a High-Performing Team Provide visionary leadership to your team, setting bold goals and fostering a high-performance culture. Hire, train, and mentor employees and volunteers, ensuring that your team consistently surpasses national and regional fundraising metrics. Drive transformational change to elevate both individual and team performance.

7. Lead Critical Disaster Relief Fundraising Step up as a strategic leader during times of crisis, crafting and executing innovative disaster relief fundraising strategies that rapidly respond to emerging needs and amplify donor impact.

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED:

Bachelor's degree required with a minimum of 7 years of sales/fundraising experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience required. Experience with increasing philanthropic revenue from diverse constituencies, developing and implementing broad-based fundraising programs, and knowledge of "best practices" in development.

An advanced degree is highly desirable.

A current valid driver's license and a good driving record is required.

5 years of management experience required (Management experience cannot be substituted).

Ability to relate well and work effectively with multiple constituencies and audiences. Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written skills. Knowledge of office systems: MS Office preferred and fundraising database systems (e.g. Raiser's Edge, Salesforce.com). Ability to work on a team within a collaborative environment and ensure the highest customer service orientation.
Must live in metro St. Louis and will require frequent travel within the Region. The amount will vary depending upon size and geography of region. Occasional travel within the Division may be required.
